    Why? Are you advocating regular usage of a late inning defensive replacement? I guess that depends on your definition of "regular", but no. I'm thinking more along the lines of certain ballparks and/or certain Cub starting pitchers.

    In the unlikely event the Cubs are going to keep Jacque and play him in CF, they need a legitimate defensive CF on the roster. Angel Pagan does not qualify. It wouldn't hurt to have one even if they wind up trading for Church. I wonder if Jeremy Reed is healthy and what Seattle's plans are for him.

    Guzman was granted an extra option year because of his time on the DL these past three seasons.

    I think that's highly unlikely. What is more likely, IMO, is a trade for yet another "established" pitcher. After last season, I don't think they will be willing to go into the season with the Miller/Prior/kids pool penciled in for one of the rotation spots.
