  1. and stole a base.. edit...doh..IMB stated that earlier...lousy reading comprehension.
  2. Nomar, Kearns, and Cordero for Ichiro and Fr. Rodriguez. I have to do this, right? This guy really wants Nomar...and I doubt Nomar continues with such production. Kearns is so-so. Cordero simply isn't going to get into enough save situations this year, IMO. OBP is not a stat in this league. Thoughts?
  3. It's very telling that he used the word "will" instead of "would".
  4. At least our players look better. Actually, at first glance, Woody looks kind of whitetrashy. I could see him out in the front yard of the trailer, sitting on a couch, cap turned backwards with a sleevless T on sluggin back a Old Mil. The goatee, or whatever that is, also adds to the look. Where is Shooter these days?

While it's obvious that you're being sarcastic, there are some on this board who lack the ability to detect sarcasm. Initially, those people will respond harshly to your post. Then, embarassed that they didn't immediately recognize that you weren't serious, they will criticize you for not using a smiley to indicate your lack of sincerity. In coming days, you will be told that your "sarcasm act" is getting old. Eventually your loyalty to the Cubs will be questioned, probably by a poster who lacks grammatical skills and whose screenname is a combination of a rather generic word and a number. Finally, there will be a call for you to take an "absolute psychological test" to prove you can handle the pressures of posting despite your track record that shows you excel at such an activity. Be careful. I doubt JC needs such advice as he's been an active and respected member of this board for years. People from all walks of life post here. You'll encounter those with differing opinions and/or writing styles frequently. In my opinion, it's best to not get upset or bitter about it. Back to the topic....If I remember correctly, that one winning streak came on the heals of a long losing streak. Thus, both of those were essentially negated. I agree with those that state that Baker isn't the one primarily repsonsible for the losing streaks this season although he has proven himself unworthy of an extension in '04 and '05. I blame Hendry more for this season's performance. The offseason was a disaster and put the Cubs in a position for failure with or without Lee. How inept does Macphail look for giving Hendry an extension immediately preceding this gargantuan slide? its ok cheap, I got your sarcasm, and I think JC would too. Perhaps you should have added a smiley. :D my mistake i guess...my perception was that cheap was alluding to some type of feud..

  7. it's not "laughable" to expect Prior and Wood to perform better than Hill, Guzman, and Ryu.
  8. ..yep..Wood and Prior have really exposed our pitching "prospects". Hill, Guzman, and Ryu likely had some type of trade value before this season.
  9. this is what you were intending to type, right?
  10. screw that....I will always be a Cubs fan, but the front office has less motivation for change as long as seats are being filled, no?
  11. mlbtv subscription now cancelled....I'd cancel nsbb premium as well if it weren't for the social and rants forums. Everyone....please...please...please do not spend another dime supporting the Chicago Cubs...please. A team with a top NL payroll cannot perform like this and have their fans still fill the seats. I don't support booing. I do support a boycott until drastic changes are made.
  12. Is it time to discontinue the mlb.tv subscription? I opted to pay monthly instead of paying for the entire season for this very reason. Go Cubs.
  13. I was hoping this thread would be about Pierre failing a drug test.
  14. A colleague searched French military victories and Google asked "Did you mean French military defeats?" lol...your colleague work for ABS?
  15. good question. at least he's doing better than furcal. True, but he's not doing nearly as good as Nomar. only thing is, Nomar is no longer a shortstop. We could sure use him at first right now though. first or right or third or SS actually.
  16. Oh....I'm not throwing in the towel completely on this team. I definitely want to see Wood and Prior pitch. I'd like to see what the team can do once Lee is back. I just don't think the Cubs will be in contention when all of those pieces of the puzzle fall into place. The team currently makes me want to vomit when I watch them. Every team goes 5-6 games in a row where they play poorly during a season....not 3 weeks.
  17. mmmm...college football edit...I'd like to hang in there with baseball, but I'm really just not interested in watching this team. The Cubs have to compete for time in my life...and they're just not very competitive.
  18. stupid wgn...all that I had to do was watch TBS more as a child...stupid outlier season of '89. I was an impressionable ten year old...bah....
  19. I need to change my initial answer....and the range isn't offerred. 13+
  20. When was the last time a milestone was reached against the Cubs? #62? Remember that Clemens had a chance to get his 300th win against the Cubs and it didn't happen. I don't think we give up milestones very often. I'll wager that we don't give up the HR to Bonds that pushes him past Ruth..takers?
  21. No...One shouldn't eat those whole unless they are willing to commit to some serious porcelain time I would think. Boiled peanuts can be boiled with various spices, but the cajun variety seems to permeate throughout the South. Have you tried the boiled peanuts? without the shell? pretty tasty, IMO.
  22. I have Williams throwing on my fantasy team today, so I'm thinking the Cubs might score some runs.... :pig:
  23. This is good news? I've definitely preferred being too tired to watch recent games.
  24. Is this heaven?
