  1. I say we try to pull off something similar to the AJP for Nathan/Liriano deal.
  2. I haven't seen this posted anywhere, but if it has I'm sorry. It's a pretty good read. link
  3. Is Huber still a better prospect than Buck, or is he going to move out from behind the plate. I am pretty sure he already has. Sounds like he may not have the defense to stick anywhere from what I have gathered. Think 1b/dh
  4. The trib has allocated the money needed for a winner. The only problem I have with them is the fact that they gave Hendry an extension before anything played out.
  5. Finally, a poster who understands the free agent market. MPC is right. I heard Clemens was considering coming to the Cubs in June for $1 million, but once he heard how the fans were treating Jacque Jones, he changed his mind. Unless our fans are more friendly (I suggest bleacher fans wear nametags and address the players as "mister" and "sir"), we'll have no shot at signing an impact free agent next year. If the rumor is true and i highly doubt it is I dont think it was the booing so much as it was Derrek Lee broke his wrist Clemenes played in a far more volitaile cities than Chicago, thats for sure
  6. The loss of Sheets and Ohka is not helping The Crew out right now! This guy seems to have caught Cub starting pitcheritis.
  7. Righttttt. Like we'd want a guy with a career .276 winning percentage. Girardi wasn't responsible for the fire sale for the Marlins. I'd like to see any other manager do any better with a team full of minor leaguers. He spent a few seasons in New York working with Girardi and the guy has a good grasp for the game. I know for a fact I wasn't the only one that wanted Girardi in the offseason (i think vance was a pretty big guy in terms of getting Girardi here). I would not have a problem with Brenly though, I'm that sick of Baker. I was using sarcasm to kind of poke fun at the fact that some use Baker's winning percentage in defense of him.

  9. Causes Undeniable Burning Sensation
  10. Waking up sox fans in the middle of the night banging on trashcans.
  11. EPatt has really struggle of late in West Tenn with his average dipping down to 268 and his obp down to 314. He is no sure thing, and will most definately not be ready next year.
  12. I agree but i highly doubt Hendry would do that If Aram did stay, maybe he would go to 2nd base because Walker wont be back i dont think after what happened in the spring :? I think it would be much more likely for Miggy to move to a corner outfield spot. id keep murton and hendry wont get rid of jock 1 year into a 3 year deal it would be a scary lineup if the baseball gods shined on us Pie Cedeno Lee Cabera Aram Murton Barrett jones 2nd base pitcher unfortunately i think any deal involving Miggy will probably have to include Murton-he's young with success at the ML level making the minimum- Id hate it, but for Miggy Cabrera i would let "money" go - Guzman+Murton+R.Hill+Harvey? I would be ecstatic if we could get Cabrera for a guy who has a future as an average corner outfielder (murton) a guy who will always be injured (Guzman) a guy who will never get his control down at the major league level (hill) and a guy who will never have success above A ball (Harvey) Cabrera is good, real good.

  14. Really? Who? Please forward your insider info to Hendry.
  15. I just put my believe bracelet on for the first time in a while, so if we win tonight I am taking all the credit.
  16. How about re-signing Burnitz for 1 year instead of Jones for 3? I think there was a lot of talk about Austin Kearns being available before the season. burnitz wouldn't make us any better this year. It wouln't have cost us 3 years and a boatload of money.
  17. that .330 is still .03 better than neifi's .300 career obp not to mention the power he provides. There is no question that the offense of Pena/Walker is greater than the offense of Walker/Neifi. That said, it doesn't sound like he is going to be a Cub.
  18. Its Ryan Dempsters 29th birthday! I think I am going to go get some Molson to celebrate with!!
  19. Giles' .431 obp would look pretty nice in RF right about now.
  20. Everone who misses the game should get a DVR! I have only missed one game this year (it was game two against the brewers and someone told me about it before I got a chance to watch it, needless to say I didn't feel much like watching it after that) Bottom line, DVR rocks.
  21. Just curious, who was talking about Walker not being a team guy? I know he received more than his fair share of criticism of his defense and people doubted whether he could actually play first base, but I don't remember any talk of him not being a team guy. I'm not saying your wrong, but I would like to be enlightened on this subject. The whole reason the Cubs were considering trading him to begin with, apart from his perceived lack of defense, was the fact that he is pretty outspoken. Also, many on this board were lighting into him, and somewhat justifiably, after his radio interview in ST where he said that he'd already been named starting 2B even though it hadn't officially happened yet and Dusty refuted his assertion. my guess is he had already been named the starting 2b, but Dusty wanted him to keep it on the down low. we recently saw Dusty get p'd that Barrett told the truth about his finger. my guess is the same thing happened in ST. more on Walker, I hope the Cubs resign him. even if EPatt - or some other secondbaseman - is ready, Walker is an excellent candidate to fill a Mabry type bench role, or to continue starting until a new secondbaseman is ready. With the way he has been handled I doubt he will take a discount this time, but I agree. EPatt is no sure thing anyways.
  22. I'd do that in a heartbeat, though I don't know Johnson's contract situation, and where would he play come late-June? This is why the NL needs the DH ](*,) ](*,) ](*,) ](*,)
  23. http://www.bn9.com/images/news/2006/4/20/bell2.jpg Derek Bell looks aweseme in that picture. How can people who are so financially blessed, just piss there life away so easily?
  24. http://espn-att.starwave.com/photo/2006/0417/loveboat_275.jpg Of course, they're independent, but still. That is absolutely hilarious!
