  1. Gee, I wonder why he mentions he likes to eat at Gino's East and shop at Mark Shale in the FAQ.
  2. Aren't the Brewers planning on doing just that?
  3. I'm not so sure of that. Didn't Grudz get a vote or two for the NL MVP that year? If he did, the voter was on drugs. wow
  4. Wasn't there a story about the Gallagher's cell phone being off and a bunch of teams would have drafted Sean if they would have been able to get a hold of him?
  5. This is what I would like to do for the week I am there. Does it look feasible or is it trying to pack in too many games? 3/13 White Sox @ Rangers 1:05 Surprise Stadium Athletics @ Giants 7:05 Scottsdale stadium 3/14 Brewers @ White Sox 1:05 Tuscon Electric Park 3/15 Mariners @ Cubs 1:05 HoHoKam Park Giants @ Mariners 7:05 Peoria Sports Complex 3/16 Brewers @ Angels 1:05 Tempe Diablo Stadium Diamondbacks @ Athletics 7:05 Phoenix Municipal Stadium 3/17 Diamondbacks @ Royals 1:05 Surprise Stadium is two games in a day something that would be possible? How easy are tickets to get the day of the game? Would I be better off getting all the tickets ahead of time? I would be staying in avondale, so it looks like it would be fairly easy to get to the rangers/royals park and the mariners park. Any help is greatly appreciated.
  6. I just saw them interview Samardzija on csn about the hair and it seemed to be mostly all in good fun. It is ridiculously long though.
  7. I am going on March 13th! Staying way on the other side of the valley though (goodyear/avondale) My questions is how hard are tickets to come by? I am guessing that the cubbies tickets are pretty tough to get, but I definately want to go see some other teams play. What are some nice ballparks, and would I have to get tickets ahead of time or are walkup tickets feasible?
  8. I'll send everyone a pm with the League ID & password. You'll need a Y! account, if you don't already have one. We still need to figure out what type of draft to have. Live online (where you can be there in person or just preset your rankings) or offline. I'm fine with either, though if we do live online, it could take a long time to draft 250 or so players. On the other hand, as anyone who has been following the other fantasy league draft on nsbb knows, if you do offline in baseball, you'll probably have a couple people pick a player that's already been taken. I'll see what the options are for live online drafts tomorrow. If we can do it online through Y! but over a few days rather than try to hammer it out in a few hours, that might be best. I can't see how it would take you more than 2, 2 1/2 hours at the absolute very most to pick your players in a 10 team league-just letting you know so that you have more information when trying to decide what type of draft to have. I just did a 27 round, ten team mock draft on sportingnews.com and it took about an hour and a half.
  9. He sounds like a lefty Ryan Harvey to me.
  10. I wasn't necessarily agreeing with the statement that the Indians were the best team in the division, just trying to point out that there were a more talented team than their record indicated. I don't really know whether or not it is true but (assuming no personnel changes, obviously not realistic) I would guess that pythagorean record has more predictive value than standard w-l. I think we can all agree that the Indians, Sox, Twins and Tigers comprise arguably the best division in baseball. Should be a fun battle.
  11. That's the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. Seconded. Well, maybe not the most ridiculous, but it's up there. The Indians finished in fourth place and 18 games out of first, yet they were the best team in the division. Good stuff. Based on run differential they were much better than their record indicates. Maybe not the best, but definitely better than a 4th place team. They were real unlucky.
  12. Count me in as someone who is a bit happier about this trade. I would like to find out why Lopez repeated rookie ball though.
  13. What is bad about Pawelek's numbers? Why can't we judge these guys based on every piece of knowledge we have? Things like draft position, age, age relative to league, repeating a league, these things combined with statistics are enough to make a preliminary opinion. Nobody is crucifying these guys, but it would be silly to keep a blank mind towards them just because we don't have every single bit of info on them.
  14. Ironically, in Reinhard's scouting report provided by the mlb.com 2005 draft tracker, they compare him to Jason Marquis. they also have a scouting video there if you care to check it out. link
  15. I'm at work, so I don't have access to my Sickels book, but I don't see either guy listed on his site anywhere. I don't like it either. Reinhard is a 2005 college draftee so he is the same age as Ryu. Didn't do terrible last year (4.50 era, 134k/54 bb in 142 ip, .75 go/fo but only 8 dingers) but was only pitching at low A so he needs to move quickly. The other guy is also a 2005 draftee but just turned 20. Put up a real nice line of 325/403/502 in his first taste of pro ball in the rookie level appalachian league. The only problem is that he repeated the level this year and was far less productive. (256/356/402) Nice IsoD but otherwise pretty bad especially considering he was repeating the level. I understand that we didn't really have too much we could do with Ryu but I don't see much value in either of these guys.
  16. I am going to spring training! I am excited!
  17. Collateral damage from giving away Ricky Nolasco for peanuts. Marquis most likely wouldn't be here if we still had Nolasco. Nolasco as a starter 9 10 4.96 22 119.2 Marshall 6 9 5.59 24 125.2 Why would nolasco have prvented them from bringing in Marquis? Nolasco would definitely have Marquis' spot in the rotation. Nolasco's ERA was somewhat skewed by a few meltdown games but the bulk of his starts were quite good. His season numbers will get a lot better if he can can cut down on those occasional disaster type games. More experience should help in that area. not to mention that a .63 difference in ERA is fairly significant.
  18. I don't think Rowell can be traded. Isn't there a rule that says you cannot trade a draftee for one whole calender year after signing? I doubt they trade Rowell anyways, but he is one of my favorite prospects.

  20. sounds like the most speculative of all speculation to me.
  21. http://cubs.scout.com/2/543477.html This is the latest article I can find on him, so it sounds like he still might be in the system. After missing the last two years though, he is a real long shot to ever do anything I would think.
  22. hopefully the have Baseball America or something similar do the coverage instead of the ESPN idiots.
  23. How many major sports cities have teams with a world series drought approaching 100 years? I don't understand the problem with them having a little fun with surnames and curses etc.
