. Seriously? Z for me, Sheets is Prior's cousin! Assuming health. (I know cub fan's of all people know you can't do this) Actually I have an unfounded gut feeling telling me Zambrano is going to get hurt in the not too distant future.
I don't like my ace pitcher walking more than 100 batters, and showing no signs of improving in that department. Sheets took longer to find his dominance but when he did he was superior to Zambrano. He hasn't been healthy since then, and it's possible it was a fluke year, but I'd still take him over Z.
It sounds like he has a shot at winning the job out of spring training, especially if Koskie can't get over his injuries. I think he takes over full time at some point in the season. The brewers could be set in the infield for a long time if Hardy ever starts hitting like he should and Braun is the real deal. Truffle also forgot to mention Corey Hart. I have heard that Hall will get a look in center, with Hart getting a shot to win a starting corner outfield spot. They have a lot of options in the outfield and I'm not sure anything is decided, but they definately have a decent enough stable to pick from (Jenkins, Hall, Hart, Gross, Mench, Clark) I think their season hinges on the health of Sheets.
agreed. i think colvin will also be in this catagory. Colvin will be underrated by who? BA loves the kid. Yeah, after complaining that he was a "reach" in the first round. They rated him 170 out of 200 prospects going into the draft. Dude's are going to eat some crow in the coming years. They also rated him the number one prospect in the northwest league and gushed about his "tantalizing package of five average of better tools" I don't understand why you seem to take Colvin's draft ranking so personally. And I also don't understand why you are so sure that Colvin will excel. It is impossible to be sure that a player who has played no higher than short season A ball will do anything.
Murton was a product of the Red Sox, not the Cubs. I hope Wilken turns things around, but the Cubs farm system is currently below average. Murton had roughly the same number of ABs in the BoSox and Cubs farm systems before reaching the majors. He hadn't made it out of A+ when he was traded to the Cubs - hardly a finished product. The farm system isn't currently below average. It has a number of players who are very underrated. Colvin and Samardzija being prime examples. 95% of Wilken's 1st round picks made the majors. The odds are pretty good Colvin does as well. Wilken had Samardzija as the #1 pitcher overall. He's dismissed as "too raw" by the rating systems. Our system is going to look a lot better next season once these guys get to show their stuff. How are Colvin and Samardzija underrated? BA is absolutely in love with them although neither of them have shown much.
I bought mine in Barnes and Noble on monday even though it wasn't supposed to be there yet! I love the prospect handbook, and I am sorry that yours was stolen. I know that I would be crushed.
I'm likewise confused by your original statement about being "second-hand." You seemed to imply that Law ranks the Yankees highly based on what the Yankees say about their own players. Is that really what you were saying? I think he is saying that BA rarely goes out and watches the players and comes up with their own independant opinions. They go out and interview the scouts, managers, etc. and compile their opinions. Firsthand info would come from the scouts, secondhand info would come from getting the first hand info from the scouts. From my understanding most of their scouting reports come from either the managers and coaches of the player or the managers and coaches of opposing teams. The latter see the player two or three times a season, so it's not really a fair assessment. My main reasoning was saying that it's not physically BA doing most of their scouting and ESPN does a LOT less scouting than BA. Of course BA's work is a lot better than Laws because I would assume they have more contacts. Thats exactly what I was trying to say.

I would figure out a way to get the money out without touching the urine. Two pencils acting together like tweezers? I voted 5$ but would have definately voted 1 if it were an option.
