  1. As I said in the other thread, I'd rather have Al Thornton than Brewer or Butler.
  2. Al Thornton is being bought out by the Wiz. I'd much rather have him than Butler. He's 5 years younger, taller, stronger and a better scorer. Plus he can give Luol some much needed and deserved rest,
  3. Its early, but quotes like that one have me on board. :good:
  4. I like that the Bulls stood pat. They are built to win via depth at all positions (except maybe SF). All of the guys on the bench can play at least 15 minutes a night and make a positive impact (again, except perhaps Scabs). No point in paying for an OJ Mayo or Courthey Lee when it would likely cost us first round picks and at least Asik or Gibson, perhaps bohth. There's no reason to believe Mayo or Lee would be that much of a difference maker in the playoffs. This team is built for the next 5-7 years, not just this year.
  5. Bulls are rumored to be looking at Anthony Parker. Dude is old and not very good. No thanks.
  6. I hope not. I want him the hell out of the NLC (with the obvious exception of the Cubs). With them out, if he goes anywhere, it's almost certainly to the Cubs, IMO. That's wishful thinking. I won't believe any of this until it's November and he files for free agency. If he bolts from Stl at all (there's nothing to say that he won't re-sign even after he becomes a FA), is he really going to want to move-on to his former team's chief rival? The last guy of any prominence who did that was Johnny Damon, and he isn't "normal".
  7. Great - another NTC (limited as it may be). Money seems ok though.
  8. I don't think they have that tendency, last night notwithstanding. And don't forget they are still playing withot Noah, which means that Kurt Thomas' half-dead body is ot there for 20 or more miniutes a night along with Asik, who tries hard but can't really hang against anyone who is good.
  9. I don't think they have that tendency, last night notwithstanding.
  10. Forte deserves an extension. This has become a 2 back league, and at least one of those backs has to be very good in the passing game. Just make sure we have a guy who can be paired with him for short yardage situations and we are in good shape.
  11. Yea the MJD stuff surprised me. Ive always thought he was a pretty stand up guy, but the tweets from the NFL players is completely uncalled for. Im hoping the Bears take note of every single player that said [expletive], because to me its unforgivable. Questioning the toughness of one of your fellow NFL players over a social media outlet is BS. Deion Sanders questioning him is rich too. The guy was the biggest [expletive] when he played and now hes questioning someones toughness. Get the [expletive] out of here No kidding - Sanders was well known for his refusal to tackle or support the run defense in any meaningful way.
  12. I am way late to this party, but the whole Cutler thing is bewildering. The guy got the s--t pounded out of him for the entire year because our O-Line sucks, and he only came out after his head was slammed into the turf in NJ. But, no, he's not tough...
  13. Anyone else recall the last very productive, rather corpulant 1B who signed a huge contract?
  14. I don't have a problem trading prospects for established ML talent like Garza, but damn, did we have to send thus much for a guy like Garza? He's not freaking Nolan Ryan, Jack Morris, or even Rick Suttcliffe. He's probably Matt Clement, whose stuff I loved, but who could never harness it consistently.
  15. I flipping hate this trade. Hate hate hate. Hendry doesn't care if he bankrupts the farm because he's trying to save his ass. Archer and Guyer are going to be good - Archer at least a 3rd starter and Guyer an everyday OF'er. And I read all the time about how Lee is a wiz defensively, and you can always find a GM who will pay big to get a light hitting , defensive stud MIF'er. Garza doesn't enough upside for the amount of value we gave up - that haul should netted Greinke or someone similar.
  16. Damn it - figures Bean would see the value here. Willingham is vastly underrated.
  17. Childress looks (physically) awful. He's put on at least 20 pounds and is even paler than he was when he took the job 5 years ago. I think he's probably relieved to have been relieved. I would be.
  18. Yesterday's game confirms that the Bears are the worst coached team in the league. Look at the Skins O-Line: a mish-mash of very young, inexperienced players and medicore talents. Ye, they managed to keep two of the leagues top 5 passing rushing ends (Mathis and Freeney) off of McNabb for the most of last night, and the Skins nearly pulled it out. Meanwhile, we got our asses handed to us by blitzing DB's, including a very freaking old safety (Milloy).
  19. Realistically, can we trade him? Which teams might be interested (all AL I am assuming) and how much of the 70-plus million remaining on his deal would we have to eat? I assume we'd get B to C level prospects in return. Here's a list of teams I think might be interested: - White Sox (Konerko coming off the books and leaving a hole in the middle of the order? Or is Prince Fielder the target?) - Angels (Serious lack of pop and he is actually younger than most of the guys they are relying on - Abreu, Matsui, and Hunter). - A's (The only OF'er with an OPS-plus over 100 was Coco Crisp, and he did that in a shade over 300 AB's).
  20. Reynolds actually walks a lot more than I thought. he hit .198 this year but his OBP was .320. Crap, just get him hitting in the .260's and he's a monster.
  21. I could live with Quade as the skip. Just get the man a freaking bat or two for the love of Zesus' butthole.
  22. Imagine him and Dallas Clark on the field for Indy, along with Wayne and Garcon. I bet we could get their second rounder next year for him. It would be a late pick anyway. How about Cinci? They could use a TE, plus their other offensive weapons are as old as dirt.
  23. RealGM says Bears are shopping Olsen and seeking a 2nd or 3rd round pick in return.
