  1. This is sensible if and only if Wally is allowed to leave. Do we have an extra second rnd pick next year after we traded down this year?
  2. I am so done with Hendry. I know most of you reached that point a while ago. I've arrived. Unless he uses the money he saves on Harden, Gregg, and in trading Bradley for (hopefully) prospects to get a true impact bat, I am going to start working with the "Fire Hendry" crowd. There have been some real f-up's of late.
  3. I am now officially tired of Hendry.
  4. And poor tackling. And crap O-Line play at times. And that awful throw by Wallace that Briggs picked off. Or at least blame the injuries.
  5. If Wallace starts at QB the Bears should win this thing by 10 or more. I never bet on games, but f that line doesn't get much higher than 5 during the week I might take the Bears and give the points.
  6. Yeah, I love when guys like Ed Wade come out and threaten that "more changes are coming". Uhhh, aren't you the guy who brought in the players that you now are identifying as needing to be changed-out? Cripes, at least Hendry has been taking the blame periodically for the 2009 team underachieving.
  7. ESPN says Cecil Cooper has been fired and replaced on interim basis by former Cub, Dave Clark. So I guess now they are "The Dave Clark Nine"?
  8. This is correct. Plus, this, which I wrote to a buddy and my Dad this morning: In sum, don't panic. The Bears were the better team overall but didn't make game-changing plays via turnovers like the Packers did. If Cutler hadn't thrown the poor screen pass and two of his receivers hadn't given up on their routes the Bears would have won by 10. If they continue to lose turnover battles they will lose many close guys like last night's, but let's wait and see how things go. Two more very tough games ahead, but then things soften up considerably.
  9. Jamal Lewis would be a good sign. Can take pressure off Forte in a big way by taking-on some of the short yardage situations.
  10. Seriously. Do any of you really believe that was all that went on during the game?
  11. Lil' blip in today's Sun Times says Bears are inquiring about Chris McAllister...
  12. This. And assuming the budget gets increased, I could see a run at John Lackey coming. Or perhaps some salary dumps to make that happen.
  13. OMG, FAVRE HAS A CRACKED NAIL ON HIS RIGHT INDEX FINGER!!! OMG!!! He speculates about a cracked rib on the basis that he couldn't take a deep breath (a diagnosis that the team's Coach won't confirm) and then runs around like a teenager on the field on Monday night. Does anyone else think he self-releases this info to the media to help enhance his "legend" amongst the faithful/gullible? The guy is a freakin' egomaniac and narcicist of the first order.
  14. Soriano tops my list. Miles is second, and a fair distance behind Soriano. Gregg and Heilman are neck and neck for third. Bradley doesn't place.
  15. I am just tired of the bellyaching. It should be as simple as, "Hey, the fans are frustrated by the fact that we have not played well this season. We are too, so I get it." Plus Bradley is targeted for booing more than others b/c: 1. He just signed a contract that gets him 10 mill per season and he hasnt put up power numbers that are traditionally associated with a corner OF'er who gets that sort of coin; and 2. His reputation precedes him. He's at least partially responsible for that.
  16. Great message to send to his players: "We can't play UNC! Nooooooo!!!! " isiah Thomas is a [expletive] ass. How he continues to get jobs is beyond me.
  17. It may be that Kenney is being kept on b/c the intent is to let Hendry go. Continuity may be needed "at the top" in order to ensure an orderly transition, and replacing pretty much the entire front office might be more than Ricketts wishes to take on. I also don't think Lou's job is necessarily safe.
  18. This. If I stay focused on the fact that Ricketts is going to clean up the front office I might forget how bad this season became at the end.
  19. Dear God this turns me on.
  20. I wonder whether you get an AL team that is desperate for hitting - Royals or A's as examples - would take Soriano in a salary dump situation. We send Soriano over, receive a couple of mid-level prospects, and agree to pay half of his remaining contract. EDIT: And this scenario only plays out in the offseason.
  21. That brings up another option - a younger, stat-oriented type like Epstein was when he was hired. Give him a veteran A-GM and off we go. BTW, I am not advocating Lou's dismissal. He's done well, IMO.
  22. I am fairly certain that Lou will retire after all of this. Assuming he does, I'd fire Hendry and: - Hire DePodesta (2 yr contract with a team option for a 3rd); and - Let him hire his guy to manage. No idea who that might be.
  23. Seconded.
