  1. Yup, just hit em' like in Major League: "Its too high...."
  2. Not be a killjoy, but every time ESPN shows these little father-son moments I think, "Does [insert player name] teach his son about Road Beef?"
  3. Short but interesting read. http://myespn.go.com/blogs/sweetspot/0-4-53/Cubs--Jim-Hendry-speaks.html
  4. I am fine with this. Let's see if he can still pitch. That said, Marshall looked awfully good last night.
  5. "I slipped the ump a few Andrew Jackson's. Not his fault."
  6. Ump is meeting a hooker at 10 on the corner of Addison and Southport, I guess.
  7. He trapped it, but hell, the baseball Gods owe us at least one.
  8. One of the best moments in Cubs history in my lifetime. Not b/c its brilliant but b/c its hysterical. I love you, you crazy ol' coot!!!
  9. Ha ha -lighten up!!! That was awesome!
  10. This would be a very good trade. If Boozer doesnt work you have plenty of money to go after Bosh next season via trade (sending away Booz's expiring contract) or through FA.
  11. Imagine if Soriano hits just a bit and Soto gets hot. We'll run away with this division. I still would consider moving Soriano to 2B to get Fox in the lineup.
  12. I wonder if someone kicked Patton in the crotch. Maybe Lou did after his performance on Saturday. Now that's a visual. Good moves all round. Hopefully Fox continues to make it "impossible" to send him down when Capt. Waste of Space returns.
  13. Hendry should start looking at AL rosters with an eye towards trading Soriano to a a team in need of a DH. He'll have 5 yrs left on the deal. If we agree to eat (at a minimum) 1/3 of the remaining money and take back a couple of B or C level prospects then maybe we can at least off-load him and clear space for Fox, who sure looks like he belongs.
  14. Wow - amazing that we are getting anything whatsoever for Freel. I assume this doesn't clear any spots on the ML roster, however.
  15. I am fine with this. I'd rather save money for next season's amazing FA class rather than pay the tax to acquire aging former stars or middling players.
  16. That is awful.
  17. I'd be fine with AI at the mid-level veteran's exception, but that is it. They should be saving the serious dough for the 2010 FA class. Next season might not be the big step fwd we'd like, but I am willing to wait if it means landing Wade or Johnson and Bosh. EDIT: His PER was just below 16 this past season, but the year before it is was over 20. The whole Detroit team sucked last season and he was a terrible fit there to begin with. We could very much use a SG who can get to the rim, taking the pressure off of Rose in that regrad. Then you can use Hinrich as the 6th man and designated spot-up jump shooter and have the luxury oif bringing Salmons or Deng off the bench. That's a lot of options. AI doesn't replace Gordon in the strictest sense since his game is very different, but one season of him would be fine.
  18. Fairly certain that I read that Campbell is being shopped. This makes sense.
  19. Crap - I was really hoping the Bulls could trade up to get Harden. He's going to be great.
