  1. How are the Bulls signing Bosh and James outright? Or acquiring Bosh in a S&T without giving up Deng? And while I plead ignorance on Cleveland's backcourt defense, so I'm not even saying it helps Cleveland's case, but defense does matter. You can't just add up PER and say this team's better. My totals aren't based on James and Bosh. They are based on James and Boozer because that is a more likely scenario. And why are you focusing only Cleveland's backcourt D? Jamison cannot defend anymore - he proved that in the playoffs. Varejao is an undersized center. And, IIRC, Williams is not a good defender but West usually is.
  2. Yeah, that sounds about right. Want your ring? Couldn't get it done? Join up with the super team for a season for peanuts before you retire. Sweet Karl Malone is coming back. LOL - Gary Payton, Sean Kemp and Benoit Benjiman are also reportedly available Oh, I forgot Patrick Ewing, Chuck Oakley and John Starks.
  3. I dunno about that. Even LeBron, Bosh and (especially) Wade would get tired playing 44 minutes a night. Which veterans are we talking here?
  4. I'm still trying real hard to wrap my head around the idea that Varejao (2009-10 PER 15.87 at PF), Williams (16.18) and Jamison (17.33 at PF) are better than Noah (17.96 at C), Rose (18.69) and Deng (16.14 at SF). What's stranger about this notion is that even if the Bulls lose out on Bosh at 25.11 they will probably get Boozer at 21.42, which means - again - that they will have superior players to what Cleveland can offer to LeBron: Rose (18.69) James Deng (16.14) Bosh (25.11) or Boozer (21.42) Noah (17.96) vs. Williams (16.18) Delonte West (13.68) James Jamison (17.33) Varejao (15.87) Assuming the Boozer scenario, that's a total PER of 74.21 for the Bulls' supporting cast and 63.06 for the Cavs' supporting cast. And did I mention that Jamison is 34 yrs old with a recent history of nagging injuries?
  5. Agreed, especially since I really dislike Wade right now.
  6. Couple of things: 1) Bosh and LeBron wouldn't be able to get max contracts, which means they need to make it up in endorsements. Easy for LeBron, but for Bosh... 2) Further to my earlier comments about Wade, I never realized what an arrogant ass he is until now.
  7. RealGM has picked this up also. http://www.realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/67402/20100623/clippers_could_trade_for_deng_using_no_8/ I bet that Hinrich could be moved if you added Gibson as a sweetner. Tiny salary relative to his production. He had a PER of over 16 last season. Who might the Bulls take at 8? Babbitt? Too early for Xavier Henry?
  8. Looks like a very good deal for the Hawks. They weren't afraid to sell high on Buf. Very smart.
  9. I would think the Hawks have to make a move this week?
  10. I though Roach was really good last year. Williams was meh at best.
  11. Wow... http://soccernet.espn.go.com/world-cup/story/_/id/5297052/ce/us/south-african-man-killed-wife-kids-changing-tv-germany-australia-game&cc=5901?ver=us
  12. It sounds less like recruiting and more like the bachelor with Wade giving people the opportunity to be considered to play with him. That's what is sounds like to me also.
  13. Is it me, or is Wade being a real prick about this situation? First the whole "Chicago isn't loyal" thing, and now this: http://www.realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/67181/20100614/wade_wants_best_player_to_join_him_in_miami/#ixzz0qqKA3JYs
  14. Agree 100%. As great as Keith was during the season and playoffs, Hjalmarsson was almost as impressive, IMO. He was as tough in Game 6 as any athlete I have ever seen. He got popped in the face three times and it looked like his nose was broken, yet he kept playing his a-- off and putting himself in front of pucks. Amazing job.
  15. This is an excellent analysis of the situation, which concludes that Buf is the odd-man-out based on the depth we have in the minors. It also says we should say adios to Sopel, Laddy and Eager. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/404455-2010-stanley-cup-finals-how-to-keep-the-blackhawks-together-next-year I agree that Buf should be traded.
  16. I've been meaning to talk to him about that. He should probably find himself a safehouse or a relative close by. Lay low for a while, because he's probably wanted for murder. Things really escalated quickly Keep your head on a swivel, and watch out for the spanish -language guys.
  17. Cool - now who is going to assault Stone on the White sox team plane?
  18. During the whole Bradley ordeal, Ramirez was the calmest most rational one, with Soriano a close second. Then again, maybe they blamed all the white boys for selling out bradley like that. Not sure I follow the logic here. Ramirez being calm about Bradley really has nothing to do with this. I think that - if the report is true - he's doing it more because he's in a very bad place and very frustrated. He acted appropriately when many little bitch boys, namely theriot, were willing to squeel like pigs about how much they didn't approve of Bradley. He's been a steady force for several years and never any inkling of being a problem, but now that he's having a bad year every moron out there wants to hop on the Rozner bandwagon and rip the guy to shreds. Ok, but I'm not one of them. Aramis has been the player I have most admired during the last 5-6 years. He shows up each and every year and puts up excellent nos. - since 2004 he's never had a season where his OPS-plus dipped below 126. But he and the team have been really bad so far, so it woudldn't surprise me if he's acting out.
  19. FWIW, from Bruce's blog and in response to the story at BCB: http://blogs.dailyherald.com/node/4198#comment-41438

  21. Not saying I'm totally blowing it off, but people that automatically believe this are doing so because they want to believe it's true IMO. Wow, that's quite a leap. Why would I want it to be true? I find it plausible simply because they have been very bad (including losing several close games), Z's issues have been well-documented, and Ramirez is having the worst season of his career by a long ways. Its not unusual for people to get frustrated and start acting out in this sort of situation. I'm not saying its the end of the world, I am just saying its plausible.
  22. Eh? Where did it say that? It just said he's being a pain in the ass.
  23. You might be right, but he's also acted like he's on vallium 24-7. Just a guess, admittedly, but I think he's "playin out the string."
  24. Its not exactly a big strecth. They suck and they are unhappy about it. Not very hard to believe.
  25. That's why I buy it. Lou's behavior of late makes me think he's stopped caring. I don't know this of course; its supposition on my part based on the circumstances. I briefly saw a minute or two of the Cubs game yesterday....has Lou stopped shaving? The guy is totally losing it. Yeah, he looks like hell. That's what makes me think he's in "I don't give a f--k" mode.
