  1. I'd trade Z, but the return would need to be quite valuable.
  2. This Mitchell probe is a joke. I don't know why the feds don't involve themselves in this. Mitchell has no power to demand anything from anyone. Selig is just buying time at this point. He must have pics of Senators and Congressmen naked playing golf with Satan, or he gave them good deals on some nice used cars.
  3. The Bulls are in the 9 slot heading into the lottery. So they could pick 1-3 or 9-12. Ninth is by far the most likely, of course. Unless its 1-3 I'd trade it.
  4. I would think that Stern would prefer to see Bulls-Cavs over Pistons-Cavs. Chicago is bigger and has a stronger following, plus a younger more exciting team.
  5. I don't forsee much of a drop off if Jones were traded and Murt got his ABs. This is another reason to trade Jones while he is hot and has value.
  6. I'd like to see Pie in CF every day and Jones sent away for prospects, but so long as we keep winning I am not complaining.
  7. Marquis is the new Merker. Same last initial and everything.
  8. I was thinking the same thing. He might be hidden in Dick Cheney's bunker.
  9. On what grounds? He's not doing anything against the rules, and as long as someone is willing to sign him on his terms he can get away with it. Being an annoying jack off. Very nice. I don't get why people hate him. Jealousy I guess.
  10. Agreed, but Jones' value may never be higher than it is now and Pie can only get better, IMO, by playing every day. Its not like staying up here would mean be exposed to Dusty, Sarge and Clines.
  11. The season is over!!! THE SKY IS FALLING! THE SKY IS FALLING!!!!!! http://img.consumating.com/photos/11352/large/41372.jpg
  12. I also love Gammons. He's got access but doesn't name drop or flaunt it, and I'd be surprised if he big-timed anyone. He seems like someone who just truly loves baseball. I like Kurkijan and Stark too, but I like Gammons quite a bit more. Here's a thought for those of you who think he speaks out of his butt: - You "know" that he has inside access to many a front office - You "know" that those front offices feed him b.s. much of the time - Then why blame Gammons? He's not the liar, he's the messenger. Its his job to analyze the info and have a take. You don't like it? Tune it out. And, yes, he does have a soft spot for the Cubs. I recall back in 02' he said the Cubs e.t.a. - with future stars like Hill, Choi, etc. - was 2004. Maybe Gammons is a jinx?
  13. Time before he and his staff get blamed for signing not one but two high priced picthers with arm trouble.
  14. Winning is fun
  15. I'd bet the Yankees are paying far more per win right no w than are the Cubs. Red Sox too. They don't have that many more wins than we do.
  16. You know what, I think a different response is required to the title of this thread after today's game: What the hell is wrong with Lou?! This team is actually winning!
  17. They're showcasing Jones.
  18. I loved those late 70's early 80's Cubs teams. They were my first exposure to baseball and my life long obsession with Cubbiedom. Thanks Dad! Now my expectations are so low it doesn't take much to make me happy! I still cry for 84' and have bad dreams about Leon Durham. On the other hand I have a baseball signed by each and every member of the 83' team (Ryno included; I also have a ball signed by Ryno). And I am glad this season is already over....oh wait....
  19. Let Pie play. He'll only get better. Trade Jones and his contract so we can spend that money somewhere useful.
  20. Snelling has .210 BA but .360 OBP in about 50 ABs. Sounds like a Beane-type guy to me.
  21. Could change the fortune of this team in a big way.
  22. Sure appears that way. If Floyd keeps yanking balls into the water at PNC, I won't be complaining.
  23. True, but they won this one. Now let's go win the second one. This could be a key day for the Cubs. QFT This could get things rolling nicely. It was really great to see them come back and win. Could get some of the guys like Fonz who have been pressing to loosen up and let it happen, so to speak.
  24. Good point. Perhaps that's why the Langerhans deal was made.
  25. Their lineup to date is better than the Cubs. I just don't think they are running away with the div., which I loosely define as being 10 games up on Sept. 1. They very well could win it, however. Will it continue to be so once Soriano starts to hit? Having gotten nothing from Soriano, the Brewers have still only scored 5 more runs than the Cubs - 117-112. One would hope not. The Brewers appear to have more depth in their lineup either way (not scientifically, necessarily; just based on watching them). I think the Cubs pitching might be better overall.
