  1. In that case Hancock's father's strategy is simple - sue as many entities as possible and hope that the one with the deepest pockets (read: insurance) is assessed the greatest amount of blame.
  2. if hancock wasn't drunk and the tow truck driver/driver was negligent, would you be ok with suing them? Perhaps, but I see no negligence in this circumstance. well, if a guy on the internet who read a couple articles about it doesn't see any negligence then why even have a trial? im sure abuck12345 is an experienced lawyer on the other hand, right? since you want to be a dick about it, i graduated from law school two weeks ago. Congrats and good luck with the Bar. But to be fair, he did say experienced lawyer. Not that it matters - what we are discussing here involves pretty basic Torts class material. What sort of negligence standard does the State of Mizzou utilize?
  3. A football GM job is difficult. Baseball is not. Hendry chooses to make it difficult by handicapping himself with complete incompetence. How do you support this opinion beyond the basic conclusion?
  4. I don't have a problem with blaming Hendry. Its a results-oriented buiz. That said, I don't think that collectively we understand how hard the professional sports GM position is.
  5. I'd draft Oden and trade Randolph for a PG. Who might be available? Then you have: (New PG - How about Kirk Hinrich? I know, he's Pax's guy, but Hinrich for Randolph makes some sense, IMO) Roy Webster Aldridge Oden Bench: The Pryz, Jack, Magloire, etc. Very nice. Of course, if you draft Durant and trade no one other than Miles (little value, IMO) and maybe Webster you have: Jack Roy Durant Randolph The Pryz / Aldridge The second scenario might actually be better.
  6. I don't have a problem with trading Matt, but I much prefer to see Jacque go in a package for a .900 OPS corner OFer, bring up Pie, and use Matt as the 4th OFer. For example, I'd be pretty happy with an OF of Soriano in LF, Pie in CF, and Abreu in RF, leaving us with this lineup: Theriot (SS) Soriano Abreu Lee Ramirez DeRosa (2B) Barrett Pie
  7. On what planet has Guzman struggled since getting back to the rotation. He's been fine, not great, but he's the 5th freakin starter.
  8. No - b/c only the first three picks are subject to the lottery. After that it goes in order of record, worst to best.
  9. Meh. This was the big change? I don't get how this makes the team better.
  10. Agreed. I would bet the Yanks once viewed the backloaded portion as not mattering b/c Giambi, in theory, should have aged well: he walks a ton and can DH in the AL until he is Julio Franco's age.
  11. After yesterday's game, Dempster said he was going to the rotation and after meeting with Lou, took it back 30 minutes later. We're not really sure if Dempster misunderstood Lou or if Lou changed his mind. Wow. This is really weird. On the one hand its entertaining, and on the other disconcerting that they cannot seem to get on the same page. I don't mind shaking things up, but moving Dempster is a bad idea. How about getting someone else who can hit?
  12. So much for policing personal attacks. Oh my god you are such a baby. (That's a personal attack) It wasn't a shot at you, though it may have come out sounding that way. I mean, its clear that you and I don't get along, but that's neither here nor there in this case. Great come back, BTW. Very creative. Along the same lines of maturity, I guess "it takes one to know one", eh? Moving on, can someone summarize what the hey is going on with this Dempster thing? Is it true that he is going into the rotation or is that Lou having fun with the media and distracting from what is really happening? I would think its bad policy for him to play the media for fools, but he may not care.
  13. So much for policing personal attacks.
  14. he's already taken guzman out of the rotation, and that's stupid enough. seriously...he's taking dempster out of the closing role, calling up marmol, moving guzman from starter to closer and making a dempster a starter based on the ny game? and now it's all being reconsidered because dempster pitched one good inning the other day? if all that is true...wow. Most important word you posted. I think we're overreacting here. No one know's if this will happen, and most of it sounds like the very media speculation that is roundly criticized on this bd. And I love the "Piniella is dumb" commentary. Guy has been here all of 40 games and you have him all figured out.
  15. It shouldn't even be a possibility, though. Dempster is a proven failure as a starter. Agreed, but my point was only that we don't know for certain what is going on in Lou's head. I was only stating that all we know for certain this that Lou is considering this. You took my statement out of context.
  16. I wouldn't go that far, but this is a head-scratcher if true. I could see making him a set-up man. I wonder if this means that Z is on the block? Why do you think that? Well, the one place we have depth in this organization is in the starting pitching staff, at least if you view Marmol, Marshall and Guzman as potential ML starters as I do. By contrast, as we all know to well, we have no ML-ready impact position players in the minor leagues (though one could argue Pie is ready, I guess) and we desperately need a productive SS or OFer to the fill out the lineup. Of the team's tradeable commodities, Z will easily fecth the best return. There are several teams with injury or depth issues in their rotations - O's, Yanks, Jays, Rangers, A's, Angels, etc. The Red Sox might do a deal for Z just to keep him away from NY. The Yanks and O's in particular are desperate for help in this area and have highly productive position players who are either about to hit the mkt (ARod) or are apparently unhappy (Tejada) or both (ARod). Our rotation has looked very good thus far. Even without Z we have Lilly, Marquis, Hill and two of any of the following: Marshall, Marmol, Guzman, and Dempster - assuming he really is being considered for the rotation. Z has been pretty bad overall but the team has managed to keep its head at water level. His contract negotiations appear to have stalled. All of this is speculative, I am just trying to connect some dots.
  17. The speculation is Marmol. That was more our advice than what's inside Lou's head. Ah, you know what's going on in Lou's head? Please enlighten me how you came to be so close to a divine entity. Lou said its a "possibility" that Dempster will be moved to the rotation. That's all we know about what is going on in Lou's head, to the best of my knowledge.
  18. I wouldn't go that far, but this is a head-scratcher if true. I could see making him a set-up man. I wonder if this means that Z is on the block?
  19. Link Apparently his latest comments have stirred this up again. I love Cashman's comments: "Really its on these guys! We had no idea!" Yeah right, $$$$man.
  20. Please please please make it a trade for a corner OFer or SS with a .900 OPS.... :pig:
  21. Geez 5 games back ain't that bad considering how poor these guys have played at times. I hope they can add another bat; they could really make a run with a productive corner OFer or SS.
  22. I agree - i am not sure how we can blame Lou for how Eyre, Howry, and Ohman have performed. Look no futher than the front office on that issue. That said, I don't get why Guz should be in the pen either.
  23. I sincerely hope that any trade involves a package that includes Jacque and receiving a .900 OPS corner OFer or .850 OPS SS, but that's pretty much just a dream at this point.
