  1. It was 98.5 off the bat, unfortunately, it was on the ground. Cubs are going to crush this guy.
  2. Well, they've squared this guy up so far, every ball hit hard, they'll get to him.
  3. I to, am a believer in Shaw, it appears he's hit, and hit well, at every level below MLB. I think that does offer some hope he'll figure it out. Right now what's really discouraging is he's yet to manage a big game with the bat. Even a mightily struggling PCA had a few big days but, I believe those came after a much longer stay in the Big Leagues than Shaw. Tonight might be a night for Shaw, McGreevy doesn't have the stuff to pitch up in the strike zone, I'd also guess Shaw has probably faced McGreevy a few times at Iowa.
  4. From I what a read of McGreevy' profile coupled with the article of Shaw' FB trouble. I believe if the table was ever set for a top prospect - Shaw- to have a random big day it's tonight. The league has been working Shaw high and in with FB's, this guy, topping out at 91, doesn't have enough juice to work up in the strike zone. Working up in the strike zone is exactly opposite of McGreevy wants to do, should set up nicely for Shaw. Top prospects are allowed to a have a big day or two aren't they?
  5. Soft tosser who tries to generate GB's, once again, another guy the Cubs should crush. Busch and PCA should hammer this guy, think even Shaw should hit the ball hard. And Busch should have been in the lineup yesterday, Skubal, Weathers, Luzardo? I can understand but, yesterday? No reason Busch couldn't do something more than Turner.
  6. Possibly all of him, Tatum and Lillard, right? Any injury requiring surgery is devastating, does anyone know if Achilles' injuries are as potentially career altering as some knee injuries? Look at what happened to Derrick Rose, might have been on a HOF trajectory before the knee injury afterwards, was not on the same trajectory.
  7. I believe, with a few exceptions, they won't be facing guys with the swing and miss stuff like Skenes, Skubal, Gilbert, Gore and Wheeler, etc. for a while. There's reason to be optimistic, facing a bunch of SP without overpowering stuff, who keep the ball down trying to generate the GB. Believe, the Cubs, on the whole, have crushed these types.
  8. Is Amaya due back anytime soon? Thought he was still 1+ months away.
  9. Weird series indeed, Solano has the game of his career yesterday, probably the series of his career. Garver on Friday with his game of the season, it's baseball, it happens, even a broken clock is correct twice a day. The frustrating aspect is they'll never do it again, against the Brewers, Cardinals and Reds they'll revert back to what they are - ineffective below average players. Sucks their spurts of success came against the Cubs. Whatever, it's done, no more of this horsefeathers. I hopeful the Cubs will get on a roll, next 16 games, except for Houston, no more pitching staffs with multiple Cy Young types. Maybe, they can miss one of Valdez or Brown in Houston and Ryan from the Twins along the way. Cardinals and Brewers both have had winning streaks of 8+, Cubs are objectively better, it's about time they had their streak of 8+ games.
  10. I know I've said this before however, it appears Happ, Tucker and Suzuki are starting to heat up. I believe a sustained offensive burst is coming and coincidentally, they'll be facing just the type of staff they should mash against.
  11. Shota coming back helps with the right now. Given he's been out for a month+ it's almost like a trade.
  12. Does Pearson have any options left? If not, I've feeling this is his last chance to stick as a Cub. Hodge and Little have to be getting close.
  13. One thing, there's certainly a downgrade in SP the next series, no one on the Cardinals staff with overwhelming stuff.
  14. Accurate to say they're both below average, with a 2.1 WAR Kelly' already having a better season than Solano will have in 2025.
  15. I checked, last season, summing hits and BB's - 26, so, it's close.
  16. That's true, Kelly is a scrub, maybe slightly better than a scrub, though he's not quite as bad as Mastrobuoni or Solano.
  17. That's 10 RBI's and 4 HR for two of the worst hitters the Cubs have faced this year. Well, every scrub has a day or series now and then. Except, of course, Cubs' scrubs, who shockingly, perform like scrubs. Hell, did Mastrobuoni even have 3 hits in a one month period as a Cub?
  18. About time that fat horsefeathers was brushed back, he's just a little too comfortable in the batters box.
  19. Looked at his game logs, as you said, it appears he's on an upward trajectory, today he's facing the Braves. Another good start may signal he's nearly back.
  20. Watched the condensed game, given the conditions and the lack of defense that was one of Horton' best performances. Holy horsefeathers did the Cubs give the Mariners out after out after out, just terrible. Yet, they won, so all's well that ends well.
  21. I agree and none of the mentioned SP targets have a price tag that requires either or them. I do believe the Marlins, etc. will ask, as they should, but, they're not getting a Wiggins or Cassie from the Cubs.
  22. What was XBA this game, seemed quite of the Mariners' hits found holes or were misplayed into a hit.
