  1. Bibbe up to 70 pitches, they'll get to him for at least, the tying run, if not more.
  2. It'd be great if they could get this one, I've little faith in Horton tomorrow. Not trying to be down on him, nevertheless, hasn't really shown anything to give me faith he'll be effective.
  3. I believe a lot of his fastball getting clobbered has do with location. I may be wrong but, it appears he leaves many pitches in the middle, middle-middle of the plate which get hit hard. Tomorrow should be a favorable match up for him, let's see if he can put together a dominate start.
  4. Yes, let them blow their wad in trading for Alcantara while the Cubs low key trade for Cabrera.
  5. Watching a little of the Cardinals and Pirates, Gray going for the Cardinals, pure stuff wise Horton > Gray. Big differentiator is location, Gray hits the corners, goes up and down, have yet to see FB middle-middle from Gray. Gray did hang a slider which Pham smoked for an RBI single.
  6. Just curious did Horton get any swing miss on breaking stuff the other night? Could it be he's tipping his pitches or given, it's the Astros, something more nefarious?
  7. What's that for Wicks at Iowa strong starts back to back? I wonder if he's getting close? I'd like to see him get another shot maybe, against the Cardinals? If successful perhaps, move him into the rotation and move Horton to Iowa or the bullpen? Horton may turn out to be a good to very good MOR but, I'm convinced it's not going to happen this season. Might better serve the Cubs and Horton if he's moved to the pen for now.
  8. I know it's the Brewers but, I don't think they're going to auto-magically get 2023 Woodruff when he comes back.
  9. Yes, but, I think it's safe to assume, at home, they're a step up in competition from the Rockies and Twins.
  10. I'm not all that convinced the Brewers are going to keep scoring enough runs, team wide OPS+ of 98. That's with Frelick, Durbin and Collins over performing. The regression monster will hit, and, for good as Peralta and Misiorowski are and appear to be, they're not going to throw shutouts every start. Misiorowski is going in the second game against the Mets, so far, his control issues haven't been a factor. I would think they'll be a game or two where the control issues might arise, Mets might be a team to make them surface.
  11. For me, as I said more frustration, last night, it was so horsefeathers predictable, seems it always has to be so when it comes to Cubs. Then again I wouldn't be surprised if most fans feel the "only my team" vibe when something bad happens. Would be awesome if the script was flipped tonight, I think it's allowed, even for the Cubs.
  12. Getting someone who mashes LHP to play first with Busch would have a massive impact.
  13. Perhaps, though, who couldn't see last night coming from a million miles away? It'd awfully cool if the script is flipped tonight.
  14. It's frustration and blowing off steam on my part. Why did last night have to be so horsefeathers predictable? Player Cubs trade away looks great, player Cubs traded for looks like dogshit. Cubs' rookies are for horsefeathers, can't the horsefeathers script flipped just once?
  15. And why would you want them with picks? Haven't the Bulls and Karnisovas shown they're incapable of a quality draft? Remind me, what has Karnisovas done well to be hired and extended by the Bulls? He must have done something well in the past to merit hiring by the Bulls.
  16. Yes, I know, expecting a good week from Shaw is very unreasonable on my part. Moreover, Shaw having a good week with the bat appears beyond the realm of possibility. At this point, as minute as chances appear to be, I'd take one good game. A game where actually barrels-up multiple balls and does real damage, not the soft contact dribblers that found holes last night.
  17. Man, last night was tough, Tucker sucked, the Cubs rookies, Horton and Shaw, for the most part sucked. While, on script, Smith looked great, how about flipping the script tonight? And Rea not putting the Cubs in a big hole off right off the bat? Probably, just blowing off steam from last night but, is anyone else, at the moment, discouraged by Horton' and Shaw' lack of anything? I know baseball is very hard and I didn't expect them to come up polished. However, neither of them can even manage glimpses of effectiveness, it shouldn't feel like a miracle the one or two times a week Shaw manages to barrel-up a ball or get it out of the infield. Or, when Horton gets ahead of batter and actually puts him away. But, I guess, like almost all things when it comes to Cubs, we'll have to wait and wait and wait and maybe, perhaps, they'll turn out to be decent to good players. I am believer in both of them, it's just really hard right now.
  18. I know everybody wants to crown the Brewers division champs and all but, they're getting a whole lot of production right now from guys who aren't good. Durbin, Collins, Ortiz and to some extent Frelick, we keep talking about the Cubs and the regression monster. At some point it's going to hit the Brewers - hard.
  19. They'll be facing another below average to crappy starter tomorrow so, the runs will come. Only problem is the Astros will also be facing a crappy starter. Maybe, Rea can be less crappy than the Astros starter, it's baseball anything can happen. Can't believe I just wrote that, it's unreasonable to expect anything other than a blow up game from Rea.
  20. Still another dribbler that found a hole but, on the scorecard it looks good.
  21. We'll he didn't hit it hard and got lucky. It just hard watching him almost never square a ball up. But, seriously, all this nonsense about Smith > Shaw is just that, at some point. Quite probably not anytime this season, still nevertheless, at some point, Shaw will start to look like a top prospect. He's hit too well at every level to not, at least, be a competent to good player.
  22. Does it matter? Right now, he couldn't hit a BP FB hard.
  23. Right now, at the plate, a cardboard cutout is > Shaw. His next at bat I'm calling a 70- GB to SS, we'll see.
  24. With Shaw I'd settle for one good game, let alone, a good week. Honestly, right now, it appears the probability of Shaw having a good game is almost zero. That hanger Smith hit, the same pitch, Shaw hits it weakly to RF.
  25. The Cubs have hit, what, two balls hard off of this bum? Just pathetic.
