  1. Me too, will never understand why a first pitch FB was called to someone who was spectacularly terrible that season. I also believe it was well documented that Young was awful on anything with spin or off-speed. So rather than exploit that weakness just go ahead and pitch to Young' strength. My goodness, what a ******-ass Diamondback team that was, true, the Cubs weren't that much better, if at all.
  2. I mean it's baseball the Brewers will lose again sometime this calendar year, right?
  3. The Cubs will get to Hill for several runs, they'll, for the most part, be patient and let Hill do what he wants to do - walk them. Walking them leading to big innings. Who knows maybe they'll be tied again for the Central lead after tonight.
  4. I do! Read the article shortly after my post, I believe he'd be the perfect by low high reward guy for the Cubs.
  5. No on Suarez, a rental, who's going to be artificially over priced. Don't think Alcantara or Triantos, etc. is worth it for 3+ months of Suarez. I'd kick the tires on Finnegan but, I'd be more interested on Soroka from the Nationals.
  6. That horsefeathers Tony Womack in 2004, his career year, and still couldn't manage a league average OPS+. Nevertheless, of course, his only "good" year had to come as a Cardinal.
  7. I believe it was the lead off BB more than anything that was killer yesterday. Don't know if you can blame Counsell for that, Pressly, yes, but, not Counsell. Chances are if Pressly doesn't issue that walk the Cubs come out of that inning, at worst, tied.
  8. I agree, a couple of rentals - Kelly, Gallen or Lugo - would greatly help to solidify the starting staff and close the pitching gap between the teams, Urias or Castro would be a big help as well. These aren't TOP types they're perfectly realistic and reasonable targets for the Cubs.
  9. I don't believe they're as good as the Cubs either and the statement of the Brewers being a superior organization is a gross overstatement. By the way, those 2018 Brewers had an MVP season from Yelich and those 2015 Royals had near elite hitters in Hosmer, Cain and Moustakas, these Brewers have nothing remotely close to those kinds of bats.
  10. Way too many free passes today, ultimately I don't believe the Red Sox are playoff team. Doesn't mean they aren't a good team, keep giving a good team a bunch free base runners and eventually, they're going to cash in.
  11. Today? I'd say 6 is generous, probably closer 4.
  12. Brewers will lose today, I'm sorry but, that line up is far from a playoff team.
  13. Collins batting clean up, followed by Durbin the Brewers are vaunted alright, they're a good team. But, sooner or later the lack of punch in their lineup is going to catch up with them.
  14. Parker at the 1979 All Star game is the one that sticks with me.
  15. Believe the Dodgers have a real good chance tonight, think they're done pissing around.
  16. Very impressive win vs. a good Red Sox team today, really impressed with Anthony - he's the scary bat in their lineup. I may be way off here however, watching Cassie in the futures game, he looked reminiscent of Anthony. Of all the prospects he's the one I hope the Cubs value the most and won't trade.
  17. I'm thinking the price tag of Severino, Urias and Kelly/Gallen would not include Cassie or Wiggins, except, I believe, for Severino, they're all rentals. So probably multiple lottery tickets and one of Alcantara, Triantos, Long, etc.? I know you don't like Severino but, he's stated he does not like pitching in Sacramento, that may have something to do with his, thus far, terrible season? As much as I'd like it, I don't think Suarez is a realistic possibility, despite being a rental, he'll be in demand and extremely, artificially expensive. Urias, maybe even, Urshela, Moncada or someone of this ilk is going to be Jed' attempt at 3B help.
  18. Shouldn't there be a few teams already in sell mode? Anyone not the Tigers in AL Central, Rangers, Angels, Athletics, Orioles, Marlins, Diamondbacks, Rockies, Nationals and Pirates are a few of the teams with little to no post season chances. Could be just waiting out the market, think the Cubs have a pretty good idea of the sellers whether they've made it official or not.
  19. Was anyone else shocked when Dansby hit that HR? Honestly, I sat there stunned, no reaction, just a few moments of stunned silence. Given Dansby recent struggles with RISP, I expected the worst.
  20. I feel the same way, when facing the Yankees it's don't let Judge beat you. When necessary, pitch around him, the other guys aren't going to consistently beat you.
  21. Think there's any thought given to his arm potentially blowing out? Or, is more NIL money, etc.?
  22. I watched the game yesterday, didn't realize the big bad Yankees had just two hits and only, I believe, three base runners the entire game. That was 2024 Shota, don't know what turned on but, if the Cubs get that version for the remainder of the 2025 regular season. I wouldn't feel uneasy about Shota starting a playoff game.
  23. I'm warming to the idea of Seth Lugo, he's rental, cost shouldn't be prohibitive and would certainly be an upgrade to the Cubs rotation.
  24. I live in Michigan as well and like the Tigers, no doubt they're a quality team. I like their top three of Skubal, of course, Mize and Olsen, bullpen and their lineup could stand some upgrades.
