  1. I too, have no problem with Pie not being called up, in fact, I'm glad he'll be no near Dusty and his rookies learn by watching, etc. nonsense.
  2. Roy Williams disagrees. He guaranteed a Lions' victory. I love how he backed off soon after. Some of those quotes in that article make me think he's mentally [expletive]. “When we play the way we’re supposed to play, like our defense played the way they did Sunday … I don’t think there’s no team in this league that can beat us.” What the hell's he smoking? I found the his claim that they were this close to scoring 40 pts pretty funny as well...
  3. I didn't see the play on replay, but was his arm really hit as he threw? I don't think they were claiming his arm was hit, just his body, which can greatly affect the trajectory of any pass. I thought Grossman was trying to throw the ball away, it also appeared as he threw, he was hit low, as played developed, I was shouting throw it away Rex!!!
  4. MNF went nuts over a few of Randle-El' punt returns, made me think of Devin Hester' TD yesterday. I would have liked to see Randle-El' in Blue and Orange but, I rather have Hester returning punts. If Hester gets by the initial wave of tacklers, he's gone, its 6, don't think Randle-El is that kind of a return threat.
  5. After the initial shock of having someone consistently on base, drive in more runs.
  6. Watched the first half, a couple of decent passes from Culpepper and the Dolphins could have gone into half-time tied. Didn't see the 2nd half, did Culpeppr blow some other scoring opprotunities?
  7. Of course, the Cubs have never signed two name FA's, in that case, I like vance' idea of trading for Marcus Giles (and still signing C. Lee), he'd look very good in two spot: Murton Giles D. Lee Ramirez Barrett C. Lee Jones Izturis P this might be a better lineup than the one above...
  8. I'm warming to the idea of letting Murton lead off but do you think their is a manager in baseball (outside of Francona maybe) who would let Murton do it? Given that collection, if there's a Manager who values having runners on base ahead of his 3,4, and 5 hitters, Murton makes the most sense. Doesn't he? A lead off hitter doesn't necessarily have to be fast (unless you're Dusty Baker), give me a lead off hitter who gets on and is a good base runner over a speed merchant any day.
  9. What of letting Pierre walk, moving Jones to CF, Murton to RF and signing Carlos Lee to play LF in addition to signing Soriano to play 2B? Go with a lineup of: Murton Barrett D. Lee Ramirez C. Lee Soriano Jones Izturis P
  10. I believe Hill' going to turn out to be the stronger of the two, a solid 3, maybe even a 2 someday. Don't see that for Marshall...
  11. Not according to BBTN, all of them, Nolasco included are future Cy Young winners.
  12. Watched BT last night and of course, they were ready to award the Cy Young to Anibal Sanchez along with anointing the Marlin as Baseball' Best. But, back to the point, they showed some of Sanchez' stats over his last six starts: 41 IP, 28 K, 1.83 ERA (including the No Hitter) so, I looked at Hill' last six starts: WL IP H ER K ERA 2-2 35 25 11 30 2.83 Not as good as BT's newly appointed greatest picther of all time but, not bad. Think anyone' noticed beyond us? BT - why do I watch this crap?
  13. On one hand I would have liked to see Pie get called up, on the other, I don't Pie anywhere near Baker and his rookies learn by watching others crap. Nor do I want Pie singled out in Press for every mistake he makes while the Pierre's and Jones', etc. get a free pass and in fact, are defended for their bone-headed play.
  14. Full Article CLASS! You don't hear a lot of players leaving bitter. Who wouldn't want to play in Wrigley in front of great fans... Jacque Jones? Perhaps, if Jacque didn't get doubled-off on fly balls every other game or take out divots with his throws the Wrigley faithful wouldn't be as harsh.
  15. It appears Hill may be getting over the mental barrier of thinking a perfect is necessary to get Major League hitters out. He's trusting his stuff and going after hitters instead of reacting to them, I too, was guilty of thinking he'll be AAAA pitcher because, I thought he'd never overcome the mental pratfalls of the game. There are many other LHP's with lesser stuff, such as his mound opponent yesterday, Lowry, who are effective, no reason Hill can't accomplish the same.
  16. The Neifi-esc Pedro Feliz (lifetime .295 OBP, .443 SLG) comes thru for the Giants, why is it always the average to below average Joes who tear up the Cubs?
  17. Take your pick Hill on the 1st (vs. ARZ) or 6th (vs. PIT)
  18. Love what Hill has done thus far, IMO, in 2007, he'll be as good, if not better than his SF counter-part today.
  19. I look at what Lowry' doing and I believe Rich Hill can, at least, be as good. I believe he's got better stuff than Lowry, there's no reason, he can't make an effective 3 or 4 in 2007.
  20. He started ranting first about the medical staff saying that all these picthers come up here and within weeks they are on the DL. He also ranted that once they are on the DL they fall off the face of the world and he said in not so many words to stop lying about all the injuries and the return dates You wouldve had to listen to him rant about jones before, there was just the latest thing. I agree with EVERYTHING he says though, Jones plays sloppy baseball, getting caught off second a few times, throwing the ball all over the place cost us a lot of runs possibly, and he said it perfectly, "its not like Jacque jones scares anyone" a handful of times? it happens at least 2 times a week, and there is absolutley no excuse at getting doubled off a base more than 2 times in a yaer, jacque is on what now, 6 or 7 after yesterday This is all Hendry's fault with his stupid "he can catch the ball" bs. If I hear that one more time out of his mouth I don't know what I'll do. It's ridiculous! Not to excuse Jones but, I wonder how much of this sloppy play is a function of Dusty' not holding veterans accountable for they're poor play approach? Has anyone seen Jones play as Twin? From what little I've seen of Twins they play smart, alert Baseball.
  21. I hope you're successful, having never attended a Cubs convention, I was wondering if serious Baseball is discussed or are Hendry and Co. just hit with a bunch of meaningless vanilla questions? Garbage like - Who gets to choose the game day jersey?, etc.
  22. I wouldn't put to much stock in what JoBo has done this year - Smoke and Mirrors.
  23. No doubt, it'll get him a spot on the bench Saturday viewing the multi-talented Will Bynum (LHP going for SF Friday), which raises another question - Dusty why is OK to platoon rookies but, not veterans?
  24. Trying to kill the Snakes?
  25. Indeed it is, one of rare occassions Mariotti makes sense and a good point.
