  1. Salmons and Tyrus aren't garbage players, but if they're really good enough to carry Milwaukee and Charlotte over us then we weren't deserving of a playoff bid to begin with. Why would a Bulls fan care about the playoffs? This is not some organization that hasn't seen the postseason in 20 years and should be happy with making an appearance. Shouldn't the preference be to do whatever possible to move from a bottom seed type team at best to an actual contender that could win more than 3 playoff games? It's not like making the playoffs in the NBA is an accomplishment. And it's not like "anything can happen". Playoffs are immaterial this season, it's all about setting up the cap space for the FA class. Which leads me to this question - Should the Bulls manage to sign, Wade, for example would that be enough or will it leave them in NBA hell? NBA hell in sense that they'll be a very good team but, not quite good enough to win a title ala the Pacers of 90's or Bucks of the 80's.
  2. Maxim spread time! Hoping they come up with the girls of the winter olympics calender like the U.S Track team did several years ago This is old news nevertheless, lookee at what I found: http://www.metro.co.uk/sport/oddballs/136778-chemmy-squeezes-out-the-opposition Chemmy Alcott not an entirely un-attractive person herself.
  3. Why the Reds? No offense but, why the hell can't they align for the Cubs? As a Cub fan do you really need to ask this question? Not really but, I thought this could be the year they align for the Cubs, right. Who am I kidding!
  4. Why the Reds? No offense but, why the hell can't they align for the Cubs?
  5. I believe the Cubs can compete for the division if some things work out - Soto bouncing back, Soriano, etc. but, it's the Cubs and what can go wrong usually does go wrong. Leaving them hovering around .500 finishing 3rd or 4th, typical Cubs.
  6. Toews!!!! Really, watching online, it wasn't close in the SO, don't believe Thrashers would have scored had they 10 opprotunities.
  7. I was thinking that as well, despite having limited chances, there's no doubt in my mind the Stars score on some those chances Niemi denied.
  8. Suck it Marty [expletive] Turco!!!!
  9. For whatever reason these clowns have the Hawks' number
  10. When this team brings it, it as good or better than any Big Ten team perhaps, they're starting to figure that out.
  11. I'm also pretty sick of hearing it about the Bears WRs being so terrible. The team must be so unlucky not to have had a good WR for 20 years, when the Colts seem to get so lucky with WR's all the time. Whomever they draft seems to turn to a stud. Geez. What terrible luck and terrible scouting the Bears have had. And man, that Colts GM must be amazing. I love how these so called football experts, many of whom have never played anything beyond nerf touch football, are so quick to point out how the Bears WR's can't run routes, don't make good reads, etc. etc. Let's see what happens. I know that coaching is pretty damn important in football. If Ron Turner was the fool that many people think he is (and his record supports this), then the offense should get much better this year. Exactly, give Martz a chance and as Soul has recently pointed out Trent Green, a former player, suggests Martz will be good fit for Cutler and the offense. I'll put more stock in Green' speculation than B&B with their pre-conceived notions about the stupidity of Bennett, Hester, Knox, etc.
  12. Will we ever get a maximum effort from this Illini team? We can pin a lot on Bruce but, for whatever reason, these kids lack drive and the killer instinct no amount of coaching is going to create it for them.
  13. What about Marty Turco? I believe he'll be a UFA next season and the asking price could be pretty cheap.
  14. Listening to BB yesterday, why do I waste my time? They are so over the top negative about the Martz hiring, yes, one of the success factors of his offense is the WR being in the right place at the right time. Given this, they make it sound as if the Bears WR are invalids incapable of learning or improving hence, Martz shouldn't even bother showing up. Yes, BB, every WR who isn't a Bear was born as superior route runner, etc. and there isn't even the remotest chance the Bears' WR will improve.
  15. Can Huet keep the Hawks in a game when the defense has an off night? Particularly in the playoffs? If he's hot possibly but, going into the playoffs with the hope or counting Huet to get hot has got a very Cub-like scent to it. Huet has not shown the ability to make the big momentum changing stop, look at the Minnesota game, one big save and the Hawks probably win.
  16. Looks like Bolland may be set to return Feb 3 : http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/hockey/blackhawks/ct-spt-0127-blackhawks-brite-chicago--20100126,0,2158780.story and here, I thought he was done for the season. Don't believe Burrish (SP?) is far behind.
  17. Huet came up big towards the end, that was a fantastic save.
  18. There is that technicality and I'm, of course, up North, going to see what I can find...
  19. Unfortunately, playoff Brett Farve showed up...
  20. That's a good question. Normally we try and tie in the cities involved for the menu. Obviously in this case you'd have to go all New Orleans, because Indy offers nothing. I need to get on that menu. i really want to do something different than just the usual steaks and wings. Gumbo sounds good, but I've never made it before. Queso with spicy sausage mixed in. Maybe I'll try some Crawfish Etouffee...
  21. The Illini held a team meeting - http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/college/ct-spt-0126-illinois-hoops--20100125,0,7691827.story Hopefully, growing some and playing aggressively was a big part of meeting. If Mike Davis and Company come out playing balls to the walls Penn State doesn't stand a chance Wednesday.
  22. Doesn't he have another year on his contract with Minnesota? Yep, for $13 million. I don't think any is guaranteed. Brett had a two-year deal with the Jets too. In many ways his season was nothing short of miraculus, even should he return, I don't think it's a given he'll have another such season.
  23. Nah, it comes down to that 12th man in the huddle. If not for that, it was an automatic run call for the next play and Longwell probably would have come through. Bingo Favre could have tucked it and run, picked up a few yards and gotten them back to where they likely would have been had they not had the penalty. He didn't have to try to force a throw like he did. He could have thrown the ball away if he didn't have it in him to run, to boot. But , but, but, he's the great gunslinger Brett Farve who can make something out of nothing.
  24. Well, Brett, time to start re-hearsing the offseason melodrama!!!
  25. You don't think so? You knew it was going to go from left to right maybe, I being a little unrealistic.
