  1. Too bad it wasn't senior night for Ted Valentine tonight, I believe he's one of the officials who think the crowd is there to watch him officiate. You can count on numerous [expletive] calls whenever he's on the floor. Is he the [expletive] who called a flagrant foul on Betrand last year while he was trying to rebound the ball?
  2. Not gonna happen. Bruce Weber' Illini, yes, but with the way this team has been playing lately, no, it appears the light has finally come on for them, especially on defense.
  3. Probability of 1, how can one get up for these lame assholes?
  4. I'm nuts, I'm done with Griffey, Paul, Richardson, softest of the soft, let's get season over with and start getting Groce' recruits on court. They can't be an lamer than these weak willed jokers.
  5. I know this may read crazy but, I believe the Illini have been coming closer and closer to putting a complete game together. Wouldn't be all that surprising it finally comes together today and they blow out Wisconsin.
  6. is there any evidence behind your assumption? None but, as Cub and Bear fan, I've learned to expect the worst and hope for the best.
  7. And the injury [expletive] begins, this is Chicago so, I'm assuming Bolland' done for the season. Call up Brandon Pirri?
  8. Knew it was going to end when the Hawks got the 4 on 3, hell yeah!!!!!
  9. At best, he's maybe (?) a marginal upgrade to Cutler. I think they're probably about equal. Thinking this team will somehow turn around by giving up multiple first round picks to get Flacco is stupid, especially when that decision is based on one half of a game. I believe with a TE that can actually catch the ball and average OL play - is safe to assume an average OL can offer enough pass protection to enable the RB and TE to run routes? - we'll see a vast improvement in Cutler and the offense. It also helps in Trestman the Bears have a HC with a clue about offense, Lovie never had a clue, didn't want to have a clue about offense.
  10. Isn't the OL repairable? Given one or two solid additions? Assuming so, and with an offensive HC, it's not all that far reaching the Bears offense could dramatically improve. One or two? Its' going to take at least 4 for the longterm. In the short-term you'd need 2 at the minimum and probably three to actually make it a good line. FWIW, Dan Bernstein has been saying for a couple days that his sources tell him that Carimi was injured most of the season, a lot more than was being told, and that he was essentially playing on one leg, and that the Bears think that a healthy Carimi with a full training camp will be a lot better next season, and not to count him out. Assuming the best, a healthy Carimi is effective along with adding 2 decent OL via the draft there's 3.

  12. I'd done a Bill Cowher, print the above and stuff in the official' pocket, how's that not irrefutable evidence that the shot was good? What more do they need Lute Olson' blessing?
  13. What is he supposed to say Smack? After his first game in the big ten go off about how horrible the officiating is? He's not some boob who spent two decades as an assistant coach. He's right about the dribble penetration though it's been killing us for weeks now. He didn't have to call out Byrd by name and praise him. Plus, gflore threw out the Weber quote like he's an idiot for praising Byrd. I was just pointing out your current coach says the same thing. Byrd got a lot of praise from the media last night. I thought Byrd played like crap, he stuck a couple of threes but you should if you shoot as many as he does. I won't praise him for that rebound at the end, he broke three rules while doing it. I would trade our DJ for him though, I don't get how anyone can think our DJ is value added. Don't know if I'd take either of them but, I do agree, the Illini' DJ sucks big time. Isn't he some god awful 9-50 in last 5 or so games?
  14. How many jump shots did he take? I only remember him driving to the rim two times, once he had an easy layup and once he got called for a charge. 7 of his 10 shots were from 3. edit: plus the one free throw he did shoot was a terrible foul call. he kicked his leg out at Terone tryign to draw contact and didn't even connect but they called a foul on Terone. There were several times he got to the lane and was crushed. At least 4 times, that play at the end still pisses me off the most, Byrd committed two and probably more infractions, he hooked and pushed off McLaurin and he traveled with the ball while attempting to call time out. Yeah it's frustrating, even our team in 05 who beat everyone's brains in had to come from behind and then when they got the lead Pudue couldn't foul us at the end to shoot free throws because they had one team foul. You know, cause that can happen in a major college game. Playing defense so well you don't foul but one time in 19 minutes. Boiler up! Don't forget, in the words of Weber, DJ Byrd is a "player", perhaps, that's why he's immune to such calls.

  16. But, but, that's just the awesome defense of Purdue, they, being in the Big Ten in all, know how to play defense like no other team.
  17. I believe 9-9 is still a very real possibility and, eat it up Boliers, because your streak vs. the Illini ends in Champaign.
  18. If they could have gotten a [expletive] rebound or two, its not close enough that all those BS plays matter.
  19. So just foul on every possession? Like every other year? I'm really going to enjoy your meltdown if Byrd goes crazy and hits a bunch of threes. Lol, I was just thinking how he probably will do that. But still, you guys will probably just mug us the entire game. To make up for the talent difference. I believe Big Ten BB Officials reward the more aggressive team, in order to counter Purdue' mugging the Illini need to take the ball to the hoop and keep doing so, they'll get some calls that way.
  20. Packers in the Super Bowl? I'm not so certain they'll beat the Vikings, couldn't stop Peterson last night, don't see them stopping him next weekend.
  21. Could an offensive minded head coach make this offense more effective?
  22. Not counting Maurice Creek, Illinois has as many 4-star-or-above players as Indiana (although IU has two 5-stars in that group). That and this year's start really speak to how poor of a job Bruce Weber did. He also had Meyers Leonard and Crandall Head to use at some point last year. He had as much talent as anyone in America not named Kentucky. He just didn't put together pieces that fit. As stated above their playing to their strengths, we saw flashes of it last season but, inevitably, they stuck with a weakness for them, Weber' motion offense. It really does speak to a poor coaching job, stubbornness or both by Weber.
  23. Savor it Duke, I believe Groce is going to put an end to days of Kentucky, Duke, et. al. plucking whatever player they want out of Chicago and the rest of Illinois. I can only assume that means Illinois will start cheating. Perhaps, we'll see.

  25. I'd rather the Bears miss the playoffs I believe that'll be the end of the end of the Lovie Smith era. A large part of the recent losses to Green Bay can be blamed on coaching, an offensive minded head coach doesn't lose all these games. An example - their continued use of Hester as a WR, he doesn't know where to be, cannot run routes, he's never going to get it yet, Lovie keeps putting in a position to fail.
