  1. Why should we give a rat's ass about Weber beyond what players he left behind? Even with loss of Leonard and possibly Paul, the cupboard isn't exactly bare. We don't really know what Shaw, Langford, Egwu are capable of but, they're all four star recruits, I suspect Groce' style of play is going to be very benefical to their talents. I don't think it's a stretch that they'll have a better record next year along with not losing to the likes of Penn St and Nebraska, seemed to me Weber' system lent itself to a lesser talented teams dictating the tempo and hanging in there.
  2. I'm thinking a case of addition by subtraction, Leonard is a much bigger lose.
  3. I hope its not Brad Stevens, if Thomas' goal is to lock down the CPL he needs a smooth talker, maybe even a little greasy ala Calipari. I think Reggie Theus would do this well, Eddie Johnson, while not greasy, would work out as well. Stevens, Groce or even Smart wouldn't have had a chance with the CPL. Robert Smith would also be able to lock down the CPL, Matta, Calipari, etc. wouldn't have a snowball' chance in hell if Smith was at the helm.
  4. Doc Sadler got fired at Nebraska today. Illinois should start preparing for revenge. With the right hire the days of the Illini losing to the likes of Nebraska, PSU and even NU are over, Huskers better savor that one.
  5. I believe Iowa has a very good chance but, there's always the possibility the Illini could put it together for a game. You know hit those open jumpers they always miss or make a lay up or even realize they've got the best player on the floor and properly utilize his game.
  6. Who can? Well Bruce owns us. I say you stick with him. Oh I won't be sticking with Bruce regardless. If Mike Thomas keeps him, I'll pick another home state school to cheer for. I'm assuming Shaka will do fine against you though. Was checking out the Illini Scout board and found many of them to be under the impression that landing Jabari Parker is somehow contingent upon Bruce sticking around. Bruce couldn't recruit a fish to water yet he'll get Parker to Campaign? There's no way a Shaka Smart will make the slightest impression?
  7. stop Give me a break, I'm enjoying a Belgian Golden/Tripel ale that I bottled and thought was infected - it wasn't and tastes pretty good, at 9% ABV goes down easy as well.
  8. I don't think it will, Gar-Pax are convinced the Bulls are good enough as is, they're not going to lift a finger.
  9. Not that I wouldn't do that deal, but who's our backup center after that trade? Hedo by default. Or Taj. We'd have to coax Rasheed Wallace or Etan Thomas out of retirement. Or we give them two number ones instead of Omer. I wouldn't miss Korver all that much. We'd miss Deng's D, but does having Howard make up for that? More importantly, does that trade make us better than the Heat? I believe so, the Heat, for all their supposed greatness, have no inside game, teaming a Howard with Rose leaves the Heat with no defensive answer. They won't be able to put James on Rose and just forget about everyone else, Howard would rule the paint.
  10. This would be the 7th straight game that Indiana has outshot their opponents from the FT line, and 3 of those were road games. Basically ever since Jones went out with his injury and Oladipo was given the ball in his hands much more the free throws have been consistently high. What kind of a jump shooter is Oladipo? From what I've seen it's no surprise the FT's have been high given he takes the ball to the hoop so often. Oladipo's not a good jump shooter at all. Given that, you'd think teams would be able to cut off his lanes to the hoop and force him to take jump shots.

  12. Holy [expletive]!!! The Illini had the best player on the floor and he actually played like it, when was the last time that happened? 2005?
  13. That's a tongue in cheek remark right?
  14. Is that a fact? Leonard' leaving for certain?
  15. There's probably no reason for my thought, given the way the Illini and Iowa have been playing of late, but, I'm thinking the blind squirrel is going to find a nut today and the Illini are going to blow Iowa out.
  16. What are Hawks on the PP? 0 for the last 30?
  17. I'd rather have Stevens than Shaka. Be Stevens or Smart one of their fist goals should be locking up Parker. Amongst many other items I believe Bruce failed miserably on the recruiting path. Next Illini coach has got to secure Chicago.
  18. I don't believe so.
  19. Weber' press conference calling out Paul and Leonard was pretty lame. DJ Bryd' a player? Maybe Paul and Leonard would be players too Bruce if you coached to their abilities, last night when the Illini ran more of a transition offense Purdue couldn't stop them. I'm thinking this team can run and if they would have pushed the ball more often last night they'd blown Purdue off the floor.
  20. Very frustrating that Detroit, St. Louis and Nashville are all playing out their minds while the Hawks aren't. As pathetic as it sounds here's hoping the old saying you're never as good as you look when things are going good and you're never as bad as you look when things are going bad is true. Tonight Nashville had 3, count them, 3 [expletive] shots in the third yet managed to win.
  21. On 19 shots, seriously, some average goal tending and the Hawks would have a victory or two on this trip.
  22. When was the last time the Hawks were tied in the third period? 2010?
  23. Read from Thibs that apparently, Hamilton' about a week away, it'd be interesting see what effect a healthy Rip could have against Miami. I've got to think a healthy Rip means the Heat won't be able to solely concentrate all their defensive efforts on stopping Rose.
  24. I doubt it, probably will be a replay of the other night - Illini hang in there, Michigan starts getting a bunch calls, their coach, who actually has an active brain cell, realizes this and has everything going to the hoop - game over. I'm still pissed about the other night, when the officiating was called in such a manner, you've got to be just as aggressive and force them to make calls. It's a way of exposing one way officiating I think.
  25. the talent on the current roster is enough to win the big ten, this year and next year. if we replace the coach, next year could happen. I agree, you can see it flashes, yet, Weber continues to not coach to their strengths, how often do we see Leonard at the top of the key or out of the paint setting screens? I don't remember Zeller hanging out much around the perimeter the other night.
