  1. On 19 shots, seriously, some average goal tending and the Hawks would have a victory or two on this trip.
  2. When was the last time the Hawks were tied in the third period? 2010?
  3. Read from Thibs that apparently, Hamilton' about a week away, it'd be interesting see what effect a healthy Rip could have against Miami. I've got to think a healthy Rip means the Heat won't be able to solely concentrate all their defensive efforts on stopping Rose.
  4. I doubt it, probably will be a replay of the other night - Illini hang in there, Michigan starts getting a bunch calls, their coach, who actually has an active brain cell, realizes this and has everything going to the hoop - game over. I'm still pissed about the other night, when the officiating was called in such a manner, you've got to be just as aggressive and force them to make calls. It's a way of exposing one way officiating I think.
  5. the talent on the current roster is enough to win the big ten, this year and next year. if we replace the coach, next year could happen. I agree, you can see it flashes, yet, Weber continues to not coach to their strengths, how often do we see Leonard at the top of the key or out of the paint setting screens? I don't remember Zeller hanging out much around the perimeter the other night.
  6. After tomorrow the Bulls will have played 2/3 of their season thus far on the road - 20 road games to 10 home games. Given they've only 13 road games left why stop? Why not just take care of them within the next 3 weeks? What I find interesting is despite have already played - after tomorrow - 61% of their road schedule 3 of the last 5 games are the road.
  7. I mean I get what they are saying, it isn't an elite program. I would argue it's an elite job though. Prior to Weber our coaches parlayed this job into the Kansas job and a pro job. It's very close to Chicago and has a rabid fan base. If they do fire Weber, I don't believe they'll have any problem in getting whom they target. Smart leaves VCU in a nanosecond for Illinois if it's offered to him.
  8. Why do people always site or come up with that [expletive], bs, lame "elite" argument when discussing expectations for Illinois basketball? It is such a load of nonsense, I expect Illinois to be a NCAA team almost every season, there's no reason they shouldn't with Chicago as a recruiting area. A program doesn't have to be "elite" for that to happen, did Arkansas, Maryland or Florida make sure to check if they were an "elite" program before winning the tournament?
  9. What's interesting are the reactions of the posters at the House of 'Paign Hoops Fan Forum, on the whole I would classify them as denial. Many of them refused to admit Weber' record the last 7 years is average at best, excuse after excuse is written for Weber. With Chicago as a recruiting ground there's no reason Illini shouldn't be in tournament every year.
  10. If Bernstein' the moron what does that make Boers? The guy never has an original thought, all he does is regurgitate whatever Bernstein says. Yea obviously Boers is a complete idiot, but thats his brand (and for some reason) appears to work for him. Bernstein's brand is acting like a 50 year old whiney but precocious child. He began talking about basketball like a year and a half ago and now appears to think hes an expert. I remember at one point after a run of exceptional derrick rose games he began overhyping him and said you cant compare him to Dwayne Wade because "Wade doesnt have rose's physical strength". Bernstein also said rose "needs to learn how to get rest while on the floor, like ray allen does". He couches all his opinions in pomposity and I hate him. He also tries to use semi-advanced baseball stats without any comprehension of how they are formulated or how they should be applied. I agree, there's no doubt regarding Bernstein pomposity and condescending attitude towards basketball. His sweeping statements on other subjects is irritating as well - the Bears the OL can't block. By no means do I think the OL is complete and good but, they finished 9th in rushing offense despite Forte missing some significant time so, they can run block a bit.

  12. Do you live in Chicago in the winter? It sucks. This year is basically as good as it has ever been and its still in the 30s every day. Living in that climate isn't appealing to a lot of people, professional athletes included. There are plenty of people who could be more successful or make more money in Chicago or Minnesota or Canada, but they choose to live in the South due to the weather. It's not that hard to follow. Did and looking for better weather I moved to Michigan! But, seriously, I know how shitty it can get, remember using snowdrifts in '79 to get on the roof of the parents garage. I believe FA's go were the money is, I don't believe weather was ever a factor in Wade', James' and Bosh' choice to sign with Miami.
  13. Was listening to B&B and there were plenty of callers suggesting the Bulls NOT trade for Howard. Needless to say, Bernstein' radio eyes were popping out his head while trying to reason with the callers. Howard + Rose = NBA Championship, Miami has no answer for a team with Rose and Howard.
  14. An indoor sport and weather matters? Really? That whole weather argument against Chicago is a load of [expletive].
  15. His confidence is shot as well, those attempts today were pathetic. Oh well, we developed some top 100 kids today. Henry got 54 seconds, Egwu got 8 seconds, and Shaw led the dance pre game. Maybe Weber' gone and he knows it which might explain what he was trying to do today. Some desperate attempt to save his job.

  17. Unless they finish the season strong, which is highly unlikely based on their schedule, I think they will be a tough sell for the tournament. w In order for Illinois to go forward I hope they don't, Weber' not the answer, he's out excuses, even with talent, we get the crap we saw today. Why does he refuse to play Henry, Shaw and Egwu? i think we'll have to fire weber to keep them here, rather than the other way around. It's even more glaring today, if any game called for playing the bench it was this game. Why not throw players in waves at an NU team committed to only playing 6 and run them ragged?

  19. Why can't the Illini EVER dictate the tempo? I've seen other teams force their style of play on the opponent hell, NU did it to the Illini today.
  20. Weber has got to go, this should be the last straw.
  21. What about continually walking the ball up letting Northwestern set up their zone?
  22. Deng is likely to be back soon. Possibly Sunday. Or tonight, just read that in the Tribune also read Hamilton' to be held out until he's fully recovered. From what I understand groin injuries have a very long recovery period, does that mean he's possibly done for the season? If so, besides the Horward pipe dream, shouldn't GarPax pursue another legitimate scoring option?
  23. He's a hockey example of an average player who played out his mind for one season ala Tony Womack or other such Cardinal over the last 8 or so seasons. Oh come on, Keith wasn't Tony Womack. I think you're right about that, Womack wouldn't even have qualified as an average player.

  25. My mistake, Magic gamble until 2016?
