Shocked the Dodgers didn't trade for him but, all kidding aside, as been stated, this is the big bat we've been hoping the Cubs could add.

And, if the trade should go down, I'm fully prepared for something so Cubs happening. Such as Tucker gets off to the worst start of his career, slumping badly, while Paredes, Smith and, for good measure, Morel tear it up.

If has to one of Smith, Cassie or Shaw, I'm okay with it being Smith. Long term I believe Cassie' ceiling is higher than Smith's.

I don't believe so, while I'm not going to say the Bears defense is good, there was, nevertheless, a lack of aggression in the play calling. Don't know if it'll change, no reason, why they shouldn't be aggressive.

Completely sucks, with a good off season this can be turned around next season, roster is deficient but, not tear down and rebuild bad. It can be fixed in one off season.

From what I've read here Cassie, Shaw and Smith have the best chance of becoming viable major league players. It would be great if Hoyer could complete a trade for Tucker without including any of those three. Given, right now, Tucker is a one year rental, I don't see how the Astros could command such an outrageous price tag and expect to get anything done.

Glad the Bengals won, helped the Bears draft position, now, if one or more of Carolina, Jacksonville, Tennessee, Cleveland or the Jets could manage two more wins. That could move the Bears up to the 6-7 range, this is, of course, assuming the Bears don't win any of the remaining games, probably a pretty safe assumption.

This is okay as well, I know they'll be that whole narrative about Caleb not being the next GM's QB like there was with Poles and Justin. Big difference is Justin was not the prospect Caleb is, meaning that GM-QB marriage stuff won't matter.

We'll see, I believe his next draft is going to heavy DL and OL, it's almost certain the Bears' first rounder is going to be within the 10. Placing them well within range of top two OL and DL prospects plus I think he'll go for line help with the two second rounders.

I strongly believe Eberflus was an arranged marriage, Eberflus would still be the HC had Warren and Poles not double-teamed McCaskey for hours. I also believe Poles wanted Eberflus gone after last season but, was overridden by McCaskey.

Think its rather obvious the types above aren't working, if he's any sense or intelligence at all, he's going to try something different when targeting OL help. Will that different be an improvement?

That's the problem, maybe, Caleb, being his QB, will lend more urgency and willingness to truly address the problem.

If Ben Johnson is their target they should do whatever it takes to convince him the correct structure is in place.

It's not rocket surgery - 1. Improve run and pass blocking 2. Add a downhill power RB 3. Add a DE who can get to the QB - I believe even Poles is capable of figuring this out.

I, to, want Poles removed however, given the reasoning above, that's more of hot-take on my part. Poles has the hard part done, finding a QB, fixing the trenches shouldn't be impossible. It can be done in an off season, other average to below-average GM's have managed such a task. So, it's certainly possible that Poles could accomplish the same. It's all there for the Bears, extend Poles, do whatever it takes to convince Ben Johnson, Poles takes care of the offensive and defensive lines, playoffs then become a real possibility.

Yes, he needs to be let go, what's ironic is it appears Poles got the hardest part correct - the QB. Even an average GM will probably be able to come in and improve the OL and Dl, something Poles has struggled to right.

Same could have been said about the Lions, with the correct hires things can turn around. The Bears, like the Lions did, have to stumble into the right people.

They aren't. The only thing making the Bears job the most attractive and the only thing that matters is Caleb. Next HC gets to work with, help nurture, a potential super star QB in one of the NFL's biggest markets, with one of it's founding teams. All those rumors, criteria, innuendo, etc. is media tabloid bull horsefeathers. Saw a little bit of video with that horsefeathers Lombardi idiot. Although, he was correct about the Bears needs to address both lines, he was way off on trying to justify any of the Raiders, Jets', Saints' or Cowboys' jobs as more attractive than the Bears' job.

I like Pat Bryant, WR, Illinois, later rounds, for the Bears, could be a replacement for Allen.

Beyond a doubt, McCaskey had no intention of firing him. I give Poles and Warren credit for getting it done, maybe, they used some magic words that would have offended Virginia.

They may be replacement level players on defense but, at least, they were balls to walls aggressive. Trying to make something happen instead laying back playing not to lose. Probably won't work against QB's who can better handle blitzes, might get burned a few times.

Hope they do win, might make it easier for Johnson to move on, preferably, to the Bears.
