  1. I'm really curious to see how the lines will shake out. They've been talking all summer about Dano Toews Hossa as the top line. assuming Kane is still on the team: ? Anisimov Kane is the 2nd line and Kruger centers the human shield line with Desjardins on one wing. The rest is kind of a muddle. Will they want Shaw or Tuevo at center on the 3rd line? I could see them moving Tuevo to LW on the 2nd line and having Shaw between Panarin and Tihkonev (sp?) That leaves Garbutt/ Hartman/ O'Neil/ Bickell/ whomever else on Kruger's other wing. I'd rather have Tuevo center that 3rd line between Shaw and Panarin but that forces Bickell to the 2nd line opposite Kane. Playing Bickell on that line might give him some confidence but he's so inconsistent during the regular season. Then again, Bickell will be playing for a new contract so maybe he shines in that spot.
  2. I'm starting to dislike the Pirates. They had one job: make the Cards use their remaining good pitchers to clinch later in the week. Instead they fold like a hotel towel.
  3. Is this some sort of double reverse jinx?
  4. Just when you think this can't get any stranger...
  5. He hardly played and he bad mouthed the team after he got traded. They would have had to petition his name and they had other people they wanted instead.
  6. Johns was cut from the Stars. He's still in their org but being sent to their AHL team. http://www.defendingbigd.com/2015/9/28/9409441/dallas-stars-cut-eight-nhl-training-camp-stephen-johns-julius-honka-mattias-janmark
  7. Yea I thought he was supposed to compete for the sixth d spot before the trade. That's pretty surprising. It's not like Dallas is bursting with good defenseman. Maybe the don't like the way the injuries are piling up so far in his short career.
  8. It would be pretty humiliating for the Cards to lose a division in which they had a stranglehold for such a long time. The prospect of putting the finishing touches on that collapse is pretty enticing.
  9. TCI noted that the current CBA will expire before the contract does so presumably there will be another buy out option for contracts like this one. It's a trade off. They get Seabrook basically at the same salary until the current group runs its course. He could have gotten more had he waited for FA.
  10. It is over the top because I think that he let his rage get the best of his nuance to express that rage. Someone mentioned a few pages ago that if this was David Backes there would be few, if any, Hawks fans taking a "wait for the facts" approach. So there is absolutely bias there. Where he loses me is that "wait for the facts" does not equal "The victim is a big faker, liar, gold digger". At least for me it means that I hold out hope that it didn't really happen because the alternative is horrible. But the odds are against Kane being innocent. That he might get away with it makes me sick. That we'll never completely know what happened means I will never look at him the same way again.
  11. Not anymore. A few years ago WGN was pimping it pretty hard. I never made it through an entire episode.
  12. Unfortunately there is not scenario where all that's been hurt are feelings. Which goes back to what you said a couple days ago. Patrick Kane should never be admired again.
  13. 1) That's pretty cool! 2) Welcome! Thanks for the warm welcome. This place is awesome...glad I found it. Welcome! We're pretty friendly to people who don't post dumb things. So as long as you don't post dumb things (or are at least open minded about said dumb things), you should be OK. what an odd way to welcome someone Blame the programmer, not the robot
  14. I'm not big on the emoticons but :banghead:
  15. I meant the person administering the kit accidentally forgot to seal something in the envelope so that person tore it opened and put everything in a new envelope. Maybe they threw it in the trash thinking that it wouldn't be worth noting that they threw away the empty envelope.
  16. Is it also possible that they wrote her name on a rape kit, forgot to seal something inside, tore it open and then sealed it in a new envelope? That would explain the torn envelope ending up in the trash. It doesn't explain why anyone would dumpster dive for it though.
  17. The other day they announced that the rape kit showed no Kane DNA near the victim's genitals. The lawyer for the victim is saying that the real rape kit was opened and thrown in the trash and replaced with the one that produced the results favorable to Kane's defense. That would mean that a law enforcement person tampered with the original rape kit, making tit inadmissible in court. I think this really backfires on the victim. Unless they can prove that the real rape kit was tampered with they are going to appear dishonest and make it easier for those that want to defend Kane to feel better about doing just that.
  18. I hadn't really considered that. Around here the Steeler's fans are pretty obnoxious but I don't ever see them wearing Pirates gear. I suppose that would change if they started winning WS trophies.
  19. I wouldn't know since WGN America is showing reruns of Corner Gas or America's Funniest videos or some other crap.
  20. Not to go all conspiracy theory but a cop friend of Kane's could have planted the fake rape kit at the mother's house so that the lawyer would look stupid when he tried to use it. The cops could then produce the actual rape kit and say "nope, here it is".
  21. The Lawyer said the victim blaming has been devastating to his client. Her name hasn't been released, has it? Is it possible that Kane's lawyer might retaliate by releasing her name?
  22. So this whole episode can get worse. Great
  23. As of right now, I have a hard time really disliking the Pirates. McCutcheon is their version of Rizzo in terms of loyal to the team and likeable star. They have Aramis Ramirez who I still like a lot for what he did for the Cubs. As far as I know, none of their players are notorious assholes. If it can't be the Cubs, it might as well be them.
  24. How do you feel about the Pirates?
  25. It's like they brought a blanket to a pillow fight
