  1. Other than the lack of DNA evidence, everything points to him having done something wrong.
  2. He represents the drunk rapist in all of us When did the "no means no" campaign begin? I feel like a large part of the male population are still working from the old school "her mouth says no but her eyes say yes" mentality and they figure that's what happened to Kane. Thus they can cheer for him feeling like he didn't know he was doing anything wrong.
  3. Mike Olt: only player in the history of MLB to homer for both the Cubs and White Sox in the same season.
  4. Most surprising would be the amount of production the Cubs have gotten from the catching position. Montero has been better than expected. Ross hasn't been good but that wildly exceeds expectations of him being historically awful.
  5. i didn't see any of it, but i found kane saying he'll be "absolved of having done nothing wrong" amusing Mark Potash asking him if he'll quit drinking, and Kane not answering was also a quality moment. There's no good answer he can give to that question. If he says yes it acknowledges a drinking problem. If he says no he's refusing to acknowledge a drinking problem.
  6. Do they think treating him like a 5 year old child will shame him into better behavior?
  7. Based on what we know now, this is pretty much exactly how I feel.
  8. Is Wilmington going to whine about the Cubs having Soler in the lineup?
  9. It's a tricky situation. The NHL doesn't want to suspend him because he's the face of American hockey and he hasn't been charged with a crime. The Hawks probably can't suspend him for fear that the NHLPA would file a grievance. Both of those are probably hoping that Kane will take some sort of voluntary leave so he can avoid being asked questions that he won't answer. I doubt it has much to do with the validity of the victims story. If it was that "full of holes" they would have probably not bothered to convene a grand jury.
  10. Hejda has a decent chance of making the team since it's either him or someone like him unless one of the young Norsemen makes a big impression at camp. Paille I think is a waste of time given the depth the Hawks have at forward but whatever. There's no risk
  11. That might have made sense 3 months ago when Russell's OPS was in the mid 600s.
  12. Can we at least agree that calling them "ribbies" is annoying?
  13. Really nice of him to sign another bridge deal. It will be interesting to see what the market is for a guy like Kruger. I'm still expecting a deal for a cheap, veteran defenseman to take a little pressure off of TVR as well as Swedberg/ Pokka who may or may not be ready.
  14. Versteeg and Nordstrom to Carolina for ....?
  15. Shaw in a pure salary dump? Elliot Friedman is reporting on twitter that Versteeg to Carolina is in the works.
  16. They forgot Delino DeShields
  17. Andrew Shaw? Everybody thinks Versteeg or Bickell but finding a taker for Shaw would be easier. Considering all the trouble they had finding a taker for Sharp. Maybe Bickell + $2 million for a 7th round pick.
  18. http://twitpic.com/7sjquk People that the Cubs have tried at third base. These can be divided into 5 categories: 1. Middle infielders that they tried there out of pure desperation 2. Outfielders that they tried there out of desperation 3. Failed prospects 4. attempts to catch "lightning in a bottle" 5. Temporarily decent at times has beens
  19. In Field hockey everyone is required to play right handed. My daughter is left handed but after the initial adjustment has adapted so much that she putts left handed.
  20. this series is at wrigley Fine, don't go to the zoo then.
  21. Sounds like the Grand jury has been rescheduled.
  22. If you're taking the kids, Pittsburgh Zoo is pretty nice. It's laid out in a circle and the aquarium is there too.
  23. Try using more fishing metaphors. Preferably one's that don't really make any sense. I remember making a Dusty Baker Mad-Lib about them.
  24. I'm not sure how much they're over the cap but they can stash Grabutt and Morin at RockVegas without any of it counting against the cap. That's 1.5 in savings there. If they can move Bickell while paying half his salary that should clear enough room to sign Kruger. It's hard to measure just how much relief the Hawks would get if they did trade Kane. To send him to a destination where he'd agree to go, they'd have to pay some of his salary and then they'd have to pay the guys that they get in return. Thus I doubt that it affects Kruger's signing very much if at all.
