  1. Honestly, I had forgotten how much time he missed because of the injury. Obviously, they'd have good reason to keep him at SS and that would make it easier to get his swing straightened out.
  2. One of the best articles I've ever read. Seriously, what a great article. What we're all thinking expressed perfectly.
  3. The Cardinals are locked in? Does that mean the Cubs definitely play them because when I hear "locked in" I equate that with "playing well".
  4. Apparently they replaced them and they are much more lively according to Doc and Edzo.
  5. " I do know with Joe when you're not playing from the third inning on you have to be ready." Coghlan gets it. Doesn't mean he has to like it.
  6. I think the move for that particular situation would be to swap who you have there. Russel at SS and Baez in CF. Baez said he would be open to a move to the OF and started taking some fly balls in Iowa before he was called up this past time. Not suggesting that moving either to CF is worth exploring. That being said, I think Russell would have a better chance of becoming a good CF than Baez. I base that mostly on body type and perceived athleticism. I believe Russell is a better athlete. I think if Baez was capable of playing CF they would have already tried him their at Iowa.
  7. I think I'd rather put Russell in CF if I felt like I needed to make room for Baez than trade him for a pitcher. That wouldn't be an ideal plan but it would make more sense. Or perhaps it wouldn't make less sense.
  8. Who could have predicted that Jason Heyward would have his best season in a contract year?
  9. The Hawks are going to have to decide whether they want to keep Daley or Rundblad. They can't have both out there with Keith skating 30 minutes a night. I'm willing to cut Baun some slack for the time being. He seems like the early candidate for team whipping boy as far as fans are concerned. He reminded me a little bit of Shaw during his first stint with the Hawks. Trying too hard to be a physical presence and seemingly never being where he should be on a consistent basis. I see him getting sent down in a couple weeks once Dano is deemed to have learned the system. The sooner that happens, the better the Hawks will be. They really need Tuevo on that 3rd line to make it any kind of a threat. That leaves Shaw to skate freely and do the things he does well.
  10. If they were to get a big FA, isn't he the odd man out? Unless they spend big on someone that can play CF or they try to make Schwarber a catcher.
  11. I'm going to avoid this thread if you are going to constantly talk about how awesome Saad is :( Context is important. If Saad is still good with whoever he'll be lining up with in Nohio it won't really matter unless the Hawks are struggling to win games. I lived in Chicago longer than I've lived in Columbus. I like the Hawks. I have no interest in rubbing the Saad trade in anyone's face. I hope both teams are good The Penguins blue line is a mess. The Caps are expecting big things from American hero TJ Oshie not realizing that he's not actually better than Brouwer. Good luck with that. Which means that, barring their annual "8 guys getting hurt at the same time" strategy, Columbus should be in the mix which in hockey is really all you can ask for.
  12. cue Bart Simpson saying, "Look, in slow motion you see the exact moment when the pirate's fans hearts were broken."

  14. When you win 3 in 6 years the novelty wears off a little.
  15. The Hawks offense will be fine. The power play might actually get a tick better as Daley is a better PP QB than they've had on the 2nd unit. The PK will miss Oduya and will be something to watch. It likely won't be as lights out as it has been but Q has always been committed to using talent in that role. What it comes down to for the Hawks this year is two questions. First, how will the blue line shape up and can they compete at the level we've come to expect? How will another long playoff run affect them down the stretch and into the playoffs. As for the Kane situation, history has shown that the fans will forgive him. I'm not sure if or when I'll be able to. It's a lot like Woody Allen, some people have an easier time separating the work of the entertainer from his personal life. Sports is entertainment. It's also fantasy so perhaps it's fitting that fans will choose to believe what they want about Kane.
  16. I felt the same way before game 6 2003.
  17. My son has an interview at Carnegie Melon on Weds. but I can't take him because I have field hockey games on Tuesday and Thursday so my wife is taking him. Not that I could have gotten tickets anyway- at least that's what I'm telling myself.
  18. http://espn.go.com/mlb/player/batvspitch/_/id/32081/teamId/16/gerrit-cole Denorfia is 3 for 6 against Cole with a walk, so I think you have to start him. Not sure if serious, 3-6 isn't much of a sample size. On the other hand, that allows Maddon to have Schwarber hit in a key spot later in the game. I also expect Arrieta to bat 9th since the expectation is that he'll go deep into the game and that's been Maddon's preference lately with Arrieta and Lester pitching.
  19. They keep saying it's headed out to sea though OC has gotten a lot of flooding over the last two days.
  20. My Fall wedding was a lot of fun. We got lucky with the weather. It rained the day before and the day after. The giant oak tree we got married under came crashing to the ground the next spring.
  21. Same I'm just happy to be here. Yes. This has been a fun season. When you go from dumpster fire (with said dumpster full of tires) to among the best in baseball in one year, you really should just enjoy the ride as long as it lasts.
  22. If he's sent to Rockford $950K can be removed from his $4 mildo cap hit. So there's a little relief. I don't believe Dano getting called back happens right away unless someone claims Bickell. Even then this might be Q trying to send a message. Plus he's liked Baun since day 1 so we'll see where that goes.
  23. Are the new video boards bullet proof?
  24. My grandfather was at that game.
  25. whatever it is when the puck drops on game 1 I'm sure it will change frequently. I feel like the line blender didn't get as much use the last half of last season.
