  1. I was disappointed that Denver didn't actually punt on 3rd down. That would have been fun.
  2. Finally, Columbus is as good as the Canadian teams! I really like Seth Jones. Finding a Defenseman like him is a lot harder than finding a #1 center which I don't completely believe Johansen was/ is/ will ever be.
  3. Worst super bowl ever or worst football game that I watched in its entirety? I'm having trouble deciding.
  4. gene and georgetti's? Kelly Mondelli's IIRC.
  5. One of my friends in HS was a bus boy at an Italian Restaurant that Harry Caray used to go to a lot. My friend said that he would come in slobbering drunk and was basically a disgusting person to be around.
  6. Rookie mistake: Lay off the hookers and drugs until after the game.
  7. I guess the outpouring of love for John Scott is understandable given the ridiculous way the league tried to keep him out of the game. It's surprising how people forget, especially Hawks fans, that he is a terrible hockey player and more or less useless in today's game.
  8. The game was at least watchable. I don't know how long players will continue to GAS about winning but it was a huge improvement from last year's pro bowl esque "performance". I'm a little surprised that the players didn't immediately donate the $1 million to Denna Laing. That would have been great especially since the owners could only come up with $200K for her medical expenses.
  9. The Cubs have had worse in RF.
  10. don't caaaaaarrrrreeeeeeeeee do outlets with coal based electricity taste any different than those from natural gas or solar? You know what they say: 1101101010001000100001000101110010100101010101010101010101001010101010010101010001010000100010101010010100101010010101000010101001010100101010100101010101010101010111101010001010100101010101100001010101000101010101010110101010101110100010101010101010101010
  11. petition to rename this "fire Klinsman" or "klinsman death watch".
  12. We stayed at a hotel in Gettysburg that had French toast dipped in corn flakes. They were amazing.
  13. I coach Ladies Field Hockey. As a man, that makes me something of an anomaly. The prevailing attitude seems to be that what could I possibly know about the sport since I never played. I suppose, on some level, that concern is somewhat legitimate. Dads at field hockey games are some of the worst fans of any sport anywhere. It's sort of a guilt by association thing. Over the years I've been able to win people over and gain some margin of respect for actually knowing how the game works and successfully teaching that to players. Look for my tell all book The Grass Ceiling whenever I get around to writing it. The "How can you coach a sport that you didn't play?" crowd misses an important point: coaches need only be able to command the respect of their players in order to be effective. Maybe it's a little harder at first because it's something new but I don't see why a woman couldn't coach football.
  14. Unfair comparison based on 30 seconds of research: another Brandon Pirri? Dude can skate fast but what other skills does he have? Viktor Stalberg might be a more apt comparison. A fast winger with skill that hasn't really fit in on two different teams. Sekac may have a little more upside than Stalberg but he hasn't shown it yet. That could be lack of opportunity. We'll see. As someone said earlier, they traded away the 2nd year of having to pay Garbutt so even if Sekac never amounts to anything it's still a chance worth taking. What might be more interesting is how this affects Dano and to a lesser extent Panik as Sekac could supplant either of those guys in what everyone assumes would be their roles.
  15. I like Cam Newton. I also like Larry Fitzgerald too so I'm good with either of them blowing out the AFC team that advances. There have been too many close games in recent years. I want to go back to the good old days when the NFC would win by 25 every year. Failing that, I'd like the feds to move President's Day to the Monday after the Superbowl. Who would that hurt?
  16. I can't help feeling that the Cubs are due to not hit on any of these guys. Not that we have any cause to complain given the recent successes.
  17. Would be better if he had a cigar in his mouth
  18. I'm not completely sold on the Panthers success but the Lightning have been playing better and should be really motivated.
  19. . Why not both?
  20. It should go back to wherever it came from. No Problem.
  21. I've never been but I've heard that the actual HOF building is surprisingly small considering everything that could/ should be in it. They should have a separate floor with an area for each team so they could go see the fan favorites that belong in the so called "hall of very good".
  22. Isn't there at least a little value in hate watching Krukie and Schill Walking Dead style?
  23. My brother lives in LA. He used to complain that when LA had 2 teams he never got the 2nd game of the double header because either the Rams or the Raiders were home and neither consistently sold out. That was before satellites but it sort of speaks to why LA went from 2 to 0 teams, and why it took so long for enough people to care about bringing the NFL back.
  24. mildo= million dollars. I thought that originated here but it may have come from one of the hockey blogs.
  25. When you have 2 of the top 5 players on Earth and evaluate talent well, it's going to be hard to be anything less. I've only seen them a couple times this year, but I think they are more explosive than they may have ever been. At times, yes, but there have been stretches where Kane's line was the only one scoring. Toews and Hossa are both having sub par seasons for them. Shaw is not the answer on the top line and the bottom pair on defense ranges from barely adequate to awful. Don't get me wrong, it's been a lot of fun to see them beat up on teams lately. To repeat, they're going to need another defenseman and a real solution at 1LW. How much do they have to work with because of the Kuger injury and Scuderi trade? I think they can scrape together about 2.5 Mildo without trading a roster player. They can increase that by burying Bickell but there would be only modest savings by burying Scuderi since most of the $900,000 saved would have to be paid to his replacement (Pokka for example) unless the trade was for a defenseman. To get anyone worth getting, they likely need to include Shaw or get the other team to pay half of that guys salary. So I think they could swing someone currently making as much as $4.5 mildo. These are all rough estimates.
