I was watching the NHL network and Jeremy Roenick, arguably the dumbest hockey commentator not named Mike Milbury, was talking about the Shea Weber for PK Subban trade and its effects on the Pred's success this season. For those that don't follow hockey, PK Subban is younger and a better player than Shea Weber. Subban got traded from Montreal because he wears flashy clothes, smiles a lot, and is African American. To their credit, many Candiens fans were very angry about this trade. They were giving up a perennial Norris Trophy candidate for a guy that brings "grit" and is "better in the room". The Preds have advanced to the Western Conference final while the Canadiens got bounced in round one to a very Meh Rangers team. So Roenick's analysis about the trade is how it's made other defensemen on the Preds better because they aren't overshadowed by Shea horsefeathering Weber. Barely any mention of how Subban (who incidentally gives lots of money to charities and visits kids in hospitals and is basically Anthony Rizzo) is the better player or that the Preds clearly won that trade.
