  1. Now that is a name that I haven't heard in a long time. A long time.
  2. You should put stickers on it to make it really pop.
  3. http://www.delmarvanow.com/story/sports/2017/05/14/despite-rain-shortened-series-tebow-meets-fans-gives-jolt-ticket-sales/321661001/ He was on the front page when he rolled into town on Friday.
  4. the cubs problems being all due to the "failed experiment" of batting schwarber leadoff is all the rage all over chicago sports media today i switched between 670 and 1000 and they were both talking about how they'd drop him/bench him at the same time. ID BAT HIM 8TH THEN HAVE THEM SKIP HIM IN THE LINEUP AND JUST TAKE THE AUTOMATIC OUT SO HE DOESNT STRIKE OUT AND GIVE THE OTHER TEAM CONFIDENCE TO STRIKE OUT THE PITCHER TOO1!!!11!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
  5. http://rlv.zcache.com/cartoon_robot_wearing_red_cap_on_skakeboard_drawstring_backpack-r960cf8cc95ba4207b2e6db0c71d1acfd_zffcx_324.jpg?rlvnet=1 =D>
  6. I'm extremely skeptical of how true 2017 velocity loss is for pitchers who are pitching just as well(better, in Greinke's case) as they were before the Statcast/Trackman migration. Greinke specifically has been a guy whose velocity has ticked up with warmer weather in previous seasons too. Here's a crappy home-made illustration of Greinke's first 8 starts the last 3 years: The knock on Greinke used to be that he wasn't any good in the post season. Small sample but pitching for LA his post season results have been a lot better than his 2 years in Milwaukee. Coupled with his slow starts, perhaps he's not a good cold weather pitcher. Or the sample is too small to really prove anything.
  7. Dumber than his hat?
  8. I have nothing against the Senators but I'm already tired of sports pundits wanting them to win because its been too long since a Canadian team won the cup and how it's "Their Game". They win the gold medal in every Olympics and now the World Cup. horsefeathers canada.
  9. Nashville winning is good for the sport. Plus it reinforces how stupid the Canadiens were to trade Subban.
  10. Can't wait to see what the next move is for the Caps.
  11. A game or 2 in May isn't going to make or break the season. Though I'm not sure what it can really tell them about Butler, except that he is terrible and they need not waste anymore thought on him.
  12. It's starting to get interesting. Perennial chokers- the Ducks and Caps- both have a chance to redeem themselves. Both are at home and both should be favored. Can't wait to see how they manage to blow it. The Caps have been the best team all year. They take great pride in their Presidents Trophy s. They'll hang a banner on opening night. If they don't win people are talking about blowing it all up. The Ducks have blown a 3-2 lead in the playoffs for 4 years in a row. Is there a less likable team in sports? If you exclude teams that actually win, I can't really think of one besides the Cowboys.
  13. I was watching the NHL network and Jeremy Roenick, arguably the dumbest hockey commentator not named Mike Milbury, was talking about the Shea Weber for PK Subban trade and its effects on the Pred's success this season. For those that don't follow hockey, PK Subban is younger and a better player than Shea Weber. Subban got traded from Montreal because he wears flashy clothes, smiles a lot, and is African American. To their credit, many Candiens fans were very angry about this trade. They were giving up a perennial Norris Trophy candidate for a guy that brings "grit" and is "better in the room". The Preds have advanced to the Western Conference final while the Canadiens got bounced in round one to a very Meh Rangers team. So Roenick's analysis about the trade is how it's made other defensemen on the Preds better because they aren't overshadowed by Shea horsefeathering Weber. Barely any mention of how Subban (who incidentally gives lots of money to charities and visits kids in hospitals and is basically Anthony Rizzo) is the better player or that the Preds clearly won that trade.
  14. Is he hurt? I haven't been following the minor leagues as closely but can't find anything in the game threads.
  15. wait what? "Nobody" is Hyperbole but the ratings are significantly better when it's the Hawks. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stanley_Cup_Finals_television_ratings The ratings are up slightly this year over last but that likely is due to more Canadian teams.
  16. The NHL is probably thrilled at the potential of Canadian teams in the SCF. They're falling over themselves begging for the scenario. No one in America cares about the NHL playoffs unless it's Chicago. Even then, I wonder if the ratings would be down in wake of the Cubs winning the World Series making what the Hawks have done recently as sort of yesterday's news.
  17. Is a 7th round pick really that much better than signing an UFA?
  18. They were the low Derek Lee hands before they were the low Rizzo hands. Huh? He held the bat really high, comparatively speaking to Rizzo's/Heyward's hands. Are you thinking of Aramis? I think he lowered his hands over the course of his career/time with us. http://www.thedailycub.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/Derek-Lee-200x300.jpg http://a.espncdn.com/photo/2010/0818/mlb_i_lee_b1_200.jpg I was thinking of Fred McGriff. Was Lee's adjustment standing on top of the plate?
  19. It makes even less sense when you consider that Rockford already sucked when they traded away those guys- who were exactly that, guys.
  20. They were the low Derek Lee hands before they were the low Rizzo hands.
  21. The same thing was said about these guys 5 years ago. They say that after every season that doesn't end in a parade. The evidence suggests otherwise- at least mostly. When possible, Stan has gotten the guys that Q wants; Oduya this year, Ladd last year as the most recent examples. Q said they had to keep Shaw but Stan traded him anyway. Does anyone really remember or care that Shaw is gone? Was Q upset that Shaw got traded or was he just being a player's coach and saying that even though he knew they weren't going to pay Shaw what he wound up getting? The real test of their relationship will be if Stan trades TVR to force Q to develop one of the young defensemen instead. That isn't about Q "hating young players" which is mostly absurd. It's about making a commitment to patiently endure their growing pains.
  22. I was thinking about how Heyward catches all of those balls that Osuna couldn't in last night's game.
  23. Maybe this was sarcasm? [tweet] [/tweet] "Why won't you cut my bill in half?" Isn't that the proper response to Verizon?
  24. This move isn't really a "big change that makes us better" move. It's more like a "somebody needed to be fired" type move. Which is fine because Kitchen wasn't that great.
