  1. How much was last night's game helped by the fact that Dusty Baker kept slamming his hands in disgust at their bad luck?
  2. Way to call her a "bitch" in your excuse, champ. Ok ok ok ok...lets entertain this excuse for just one second. Why the hell did rando college football watching girl have this dude's phone? Why did she have the opportunity to have a conversation like this? Is that a thing people do? Let other people use their phone for extended periods of time? Is this not as weird to other people as it is to me? How did that not work?
  3. That play would be even cooler if the QB passed it to the RB that got the first hand off.
  4. Who is this guy? Should I have heard of him?
  5. Looking at that graph, it translates to what I see where I live. The less expensive it costs to play in a league, the worse the instruction is going to be. The better competition is playing on travel teams which are a huge commitment of both time and money. This system does produce talent but it effectively excludes the exact type of talent that just about every other country fosters and develops.
  6. I still can't help thinking of the song Berserk-er from Clerks whenever I hear that name. My love is like a ticking clock, Kent Merker
  7. For an athletic QB, Trubisky was very disciplined in terms of looking for receivers rather than just taking off and running. When he did choose to run he showed good speed. He made some good throws and some bad throws which is probably what we should have expected in his debut. His stats didn't look as good in the second half but part of that has to be the Vikings adjusting at half time. Overall I'm encouraged by what I saw.
  8. I'm trying to figure out your point of contention with what he said...just that the Cubs used to shift, so you don't think it's due to organizational philosophy? That was an example. I think the Cubs don't shift as much because they have data that says it doesn't work/ hitters have adjusted. Darling made it sound like it was some sort of Ukaze that Maddon didn't agree with or grudgingly accepted. At least that's how I interpret "organizational philosophy". He didn't expand upon what he meant. To the main point, Ron Darling doesn't have anything to say that is worth hearing. Let him broadcast Mets games or something.
  9. LOL @ Dusty He's right. No one ever used bizarre fishing metaphors before Dusty blazed that trail. http://video.palmbeachpost.com/Dusty-Baker-uses-fishing-metaphors-to-describe-Bryce-Harpers-approach-32260095
  10. I was eating lunch with my daughter in a place where they had the TV on to Ravens pre game and they were having that argument except it was a choice between no and horsefeathers no.
  11. What a piece of horsefeathers. But I did have to laugh at “the full tiddies” line. Was he in California when he sent the pics? That was the loophole that a Blackhawks minor leaguer used to avoid similar charges. That article makes it sound like the Nats might get sued too since they knew what he was doing and didn't do anything to stop it.
  12. Ron Darling sucks. He says things that aren't true as though he's done research and his voice is awful. For example, he said the Cubs don't shift very much anymore even though Maddon shifted all the time at Tampa. He attributed that to organizational philosophy. As if the Cubs have never used the shift ever or something. https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/yes-the-infield-shift-works-probably/
  13. The mother looks like she's 15
  14. Q typically doesn't try to run up the score on other teams. Of course if the other team can't manage any sort of defense there isn't a lot he can do.
  15. In that rare instance, I'm guessing it becomes a one game playoff. You know, like the system we already have that works just fine and doesn't need to be changed.
  16. #thatssocubs
  17. Here's a summary: the WC series is a best of 2. Wild Card 2 needs to win both games of a double header to advance. Wildcard 1 need only win 1 game. That would make for some pretty intense game action. It gives the 4th best team a big advantage over the 5th best team. At the same time, it still punishes the 4th best team for not winning the division. Downside: other than the fans of those 2 teams, who's going to watch the first 7 innings of game 1? So unless WC 2 wins game 1, ratings will probably go down. what in the world would be the point of this fiasco? People think that being the top WC team should get you more of an advantage than just home field for the one game playoff. #unfair If you're a 99 win WC team and you can't beat an 85 win team in a 1 game playoff then you likely aren't doing anything in the playoffs anyway.
  18. Knowing Joe, probably Wade Davis. You're thinking of Dusty Baker.

  20. Missed opportunity. Toews' and Keith's contracts are not nearly as bad as Seabrooks'. There's also the undeniable fact that the Hawks defense could be really bad unless some of these young guys work out. But, ho hum, Alex DeBrincat. The article was about why each team sucked. DeBrincat does not. Will they already have Debrincat Shirseys available or must I wait until Christmas to buy one for my daughter? She wears #12 in field hockey but the last Hawk to wear that was Sopel (as far as I know).
  21. I have to get this book too.
  22. Hockey playoffs are not made better by playing the same horsefeathering team every horsefeathering year. It actually punishes a team for being in a better division as opposed to seeding the teams 1-8 in each conference. There's no way they're going to shorten the season to allow for more teams to make the playoffs.
  23. These are all sucker lines.
