  1. It would be culturally insensitive for him to dress as John Lackey unless he too eats children.
  2. the horsefeathers is a No. 1 pencil? Not sure if serious Which one?
  3. I don't get the "Theo will leave in a few years" stuff. Why would he do that? He left Boston to prove that what he accomplished in Boston wasn't a fluke or because of winning with the guys that were already there or whatever. He won a world series with the horsefeathering Chicago Cubs. What other mountains are their left for him to climb in baseball? He's a rock star in Chicago- much more so than he ever was in Boston. Why would he walk away from that?
  4. it always has been this way. What's the point of the unofficial moratorium anyway? Fans of the teams that need a new manager are going to be talking about who their next manager is anyway. In some respects, actually naming the new manager probably is less of a distraction than people left guessing. The moratorium probably made more sense before the internet.
  5. The former is an A hole the latter is a legit stupid person. I object on the grounds that Plaschke is also a legit stupid person.
  6. This Jake?
  7. Why would Heyward accept a trade to Toronto? I thought nobody wants to play there. If the Cubs get above average production from catcher, SS and 2nd, can't they just absorb the hit of Heyward's offense being a bonus?
  8. Jason Heyward
  9. mmmmmm... Chili
  10. he keeps sandberg's ego in check and blood pressure up
  11. After 10 games the Hawks are on pace for 98 points for the season which likely would put them in 3rd place/ 1st wild card position. All shall kneel before Saad. Rutta has been a pleasant surprise. DeBrincat is going to be a star. on the other hand Seabrook has looked like a shadow of his former self. Anisimov and Sharp look slow Forsling shows flashes then makes some mistake. The Hawks really need one more center. Kero has gotten himself stapled to the bench. Wingels isn't a center and his possession numbers suck. Need more time to evaluate Schmaltz.
  12. as a kid I hated playing outdoor, and loved indoor. So much more fast paced and entertaining since there's essentially no out of bounds, unless the ball got stuck up on the stage or caught in the folded in bleachers. Me too. Waaaaaaay less running. He's excited because this year the games are at a place that has indoor turf instead of the old gym floor where he played last year.
  13. Date & Time Favorite Line Underdog Total 10/26 8:25 ET At Baltimore -3 Miami 37.5 10/29 9:30 AM Minnesota -9.5 Cleveland (At London) 38 10/29 1:00 ET At New Orleans -9 Chicago 47.5 10/29 1:00 ET Atlanta -4.5 At NY Jets 46 10/29 1:00 ET At Tampa Bay -2 Carolina 45.5 10/29 1:00 ET At Philadelphia -13 San Francisco 46.5- over 10/29 1:00 ET At Buffalo -2.5 Oakland 45.5 10/29 1:00 ET At Cincinnati -10.5 Indianapolis 41.5 over 10/29 1:00 ET At New England -7 LA Chargers 48.5 10/29 4:05 ET At Seattle -5.5 Houston 45.5 under 10/29 4:25 ET Dallas -2 At Washington 50 10/29 8:30 ET Pittsburgh -3 At Detroit 45.5 Monday Night Football Line 10/30 8:30 ET At Kansas City -7 Denver 43 My picks in bold. The underdog has looked good in every game played in London- or at least it seems that way. No one should ever trust Cincy to win as favorites but they should be able to put up enough points for the over
  14. I hear that Girardi works better with vets rather than young players, so that could be part of it. You'd think that would make him a good fit for the Nats. I don't want to see the Nats with competent managing. Dusty's available They'll hire Don Mattingly and it will be amazing.
  15. Perhaps the poll should have been who's more likable. Or maybe which team has more guys that you'd want on the Cubs. For me it's Houston on both counts. Some Ding Dong wrote I have to say that this is a pretty compelling argument.
  16. Where do you stand?
  17. He retired in 2011, spent 4 seasons as an analyst and a full year as bench coach on a good team. And apparently worked as the PR's GM in the WBC, for whatever that is worth. Is this a line from West Side Story?
  18. But the players all hate him. Just saying what we were all thinking.
  19. Just signed my son up for indoor soccer and I can't help thinking how tired I am of sports right now.
  20. I see. It's more like extortion, really.
  21. I know he's basically a fetus, but any 10 year deal has the potential be a disaster. Well of course, any 10 year contract has inherent risk but giving one to Bryce horsefeathering Harper at 26 is likely the best bet to not be. He’ll also get opt outs. If you're Harper's agent, what year do you get the opt out? After 3 years? That way he'd still be under 30 when he signs his next deal. I think I'd be ok with 3 years of Bryce Harper and letting him go if that's what he really wants to do.
  22. Talk of expansion is most likely just another way to try exploiting current team local governments into building new stadiums. Wouldn't expansion make it harder for a team to move by eliminating a potential destination? That would take away the teams leverage. The Rays, for example, can't threaten to leave town unless there's a Portland or a Vegas or whatever that wants and can support them. That being said, expansion has recently had more failures than successes. Why expand when there isn't enough talent or fans to support them now?
  23. They only have one chance. That seems pretty desperate.
  24. In some ways, I almost feel bad for Nat's fans. Not too long ago it was us throwing away great seasons and not able to get past the first round of the playoffs. In other news, seems like everyone can't wait to predict Dodgers in 3 (see what they did there? How very droll)
