Going into this season it was not necessarily pessimistic to have low expectations this season. This team still has some serious flaws which are being exposed. That being said, the current management team cannot, will not and should start thinking about next year yet. There is no next year for Hendry as the new owners will almost certainly fire him unless the Cubs make the playoffs and win a series. Hendry won't trade Zambrano for anything but MLB ready talent. I'd be more worried about him trading Murton, Pie and or Guzman for some quick fix type solutions to try to win now.
