  1. I had to watch the gamecast at work. I minimized the window when it was 9-1. I checked back periodically and saw Kosuke and Edmonds had homered. I thought, okay, just padding the stats. Then i had some work to do, came back, and saw 10-9. I couldn't believe it. There is no quit in this team. Unbelievable.
  2. Shouldn't he be worrying about more important things... like the rest of the game?
  3. Yeah, I've read a lot on his story. It's amazing. I'm pulling for him too. Usually when you sink as far down as he did, you don't come back. I really hope he keeps it up and becomes a great player for years to come.
  4. Reminds me of this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bUwJAkVbAHA Maybe he was showing Pierzynski how to wear a hat AND not be a tool at the same time.
  5. Yeah, sounds like he just slept on it wrong. Not cause for concern... yet...
  6. I'm not really an NBA guy (I live for college basketball), but I think the Bulls almost have to take Rose. I know there are Beasley supporters out there, but Rose gives you so much, especially at a position you currently NEED to fill.
  7. I wanted to get one too, but I realized his days in Chicago were numbered and thought better of it. :(
  8. It's really amazing to see the break on the ball from that angle. You can't get that shot in a real game. it's not real You're saying the ball was CGI in that video? I'm saying it's not a real baseball. It looked like a real baseball. *shrug* Rubber ball. Watch it bounce away after it hits guys.
  9. That is far and away the most insane I have ever seen Wrigley in person. I thought the walls were coming down when Barrett hit the grand slam that night. Absolutely nuts in the bleachers. It was absolutely insane right along the third baseline too. The only time I've seen it more crazy when I was at a game was after Kerry Wood's home run in game 7 of the NLCS. You want to know why the concrete is crumbling? That's exactly why. The stadium was literally shaking. I like ESPN because they seem to have unbelievable HD cameras and sound, but I can't stand the annoucers. I prefer WGN out of the Chicago area stations. Comcast just seems so... cheesy.
  10. I was a little upset at the lack of ballot availability at Wrigley on Saturday. They weren't delivered to seats, and you had to go out of your way to find them. The only ones I saw were almost hidden in a corner on the concourse.
  11. The DH rule hands down. It's an answer to a problem that no longer exists in baseball. (Lack of offense) And besides, baseball is a game of 9 players, not 10.
  12. That's just awesome.
  13. The thing is, I don't see too many sure things being available at the deadline this year. There's a few names floating around, but right now, there's no one I'd bet the farm on.
  14. So are we not supposed to not talk about any of the team's success because we are only in mid-May? I would say that a 5-1 record, sub 2.50 ERA and top 20 ranking in Ks is worthy of a little Demp recognition. Great point. If we can't give Dempster some recognition because it's mid-May, then we shouldn't be complaining about Marquis because it's only mid-May. It works both ways. Marquis has a track record of falling apart after the all-star break. The best part of his season is usually the first half. So if history repeats itself and this is the best part of his season... God help us all. I didn't think Dempster would be terrible in the rotation (he had a decent year or two when he was a starter before), but even I'll admit I didn't expect him to be this good. Still waiting for the other shoe to drop though.
  15. I was thinking we should get Piazza. If we're going for the over the hill, couldn't put up good numbers in a t-ball game, high-lighted hair crowd, this is almost a no-brainer. I see absolutely no positives in signing Edmonds, unless he's going to be used as a punching bag for Zambrano when Carlos has a bad inning. Or maybe MLB wants to test the durability of the breaks behind the ivy by having someone run flat out right into them a few times... then maybe we could use Edmonds.
  16. Who throws their helmet at someone? Why would he need to throw a helmet? Richie Sexson is huge, is the helmet throw really necessary when he probably could've just Farnsworthed him to the ground?
  17. Yeah, I have to say I'm much more concerned about Hill than I am about anyone else. Getting him back into the rotation is very key. I like Jon Lieber, just not in the rotation. And I simply don't like Jason Marquis in any way.
  18. Two observations from this post: You live pretty close to Wrigley Field. You didn't drink nearly enough. Right on both accounts. I came straight from work, so I only had a few beers. (My buddy is a die hard DBacks fan, so I couldn't drink too much in case the natives got restless and wanted to take it out on him)
  19. Just got back from the game. Had seats behind home plate. Lilly looked really good today. Command was definitely there, and he had a lot of guys off balance. Wood looked filthy from where I was too. That's four solid starts in a row for Lilly after a pretty bad start. I'm hoping it was just early season mechanics problems, cause lately he's looked really solid.
  20. It's a shame to see someone that had that type of talent go the way of Mark Prior. I feel bad for the guy, he just can't seem to get healthy. On the other hand, he is a Cardinal now, so :-({|= :D
  21. I really don't like Ozzie all that much, but man, his final meltdown right before he gets run out of town is going to be something specatular (I'll be sure to Tivo it). I'm picturing smoke literally coming out of his ears, and more f-bombs than an N.W.A. concert. He's slowly starting to tear into the fans too. Not a smart move in Chicago, Ozzie. Doesn't matter if it's the northside or the southside, ripping the fans of any Chicago team is not a bright idea. When you're winning, your tirades are fun, and you're looked at as a fiery winner. But when you're losing, those tirades just make you look crazy.
  22. http://images.jupiterimages.com/common/detail/36/42/22184236.jpg Thanks, I just about choked on my sandwich. Haha, yeah, that was pretty good.
  23. Agreed. I'm sure if we checked out a certain few other forums, we'd find a few guys laughing and making sure everyone knows how hilarious they are.
  24. I want to see Albert Pujols' birth certificate.
