  1. I like it. Does anyone know what the logo was when it was at Wrigley back in the day?
  2. They didn't look like slumpbusters when I was drunk. But once I woke up... The worst is when you wake up and play the always fun game of "Who's ceiling is this?" Or when you rollover and realize that you don't know anyone with that color hair. That's always a painful realization.
  3. You forgot the half hour dedicated exclusively to Yankee and Red Sox highlights. Followed by an hour of "The Bronx is Burning" and a Sportscenter commercial involving David Ortiz. I don't watch ESPN for their analysis. I watch it so I can catch the highlights of games I can't see here in Chicago. Many times the sound is off and my stereo is on. I have a feeling until a real competitor comes along, ESPN will only get worse. This Who's Now garbage really made me angry though. They've become MTV in that sense. I really don't care what nightclubs players are seen at. I'd rather know if they went 3-4 with a homer on that day.
  4. Most of his career, Lou Gehrig wasn't the best player on his own team... let's kick him out of the hall. I was going to use Scottie Pippen, but Lou Gehrig is a much better example. :)
  5. This really is not Michael Barrett's year...
  6. I also liked that he dragged Bagwell onto the field to share in his 3,000th hit. Bags was one of my favorite (non-Cub) players growing up.
  7. I always liked Biggio (except when the Cubs were playing him). He seems like a nice guy, always played hard, did it without roids, and was willing to do whatever the team needed of him (as evidenced by his moves from catcher, 2b, and cf). I think 3,000 hits was the clincher for him eventually getting into the Hall, that's reason enough to play these last two years.
  8. Yes, but without those annual crushing lows, he wouldn't be able to appreciate the good things in life. He needs to know disappointment if he's ever going to know true happiness.
  9. I must admit, that was really funny. Rob beat me to the punch. I was just going to change it too, but it had already been changed. Just shows that you should use Wiki as your proof of anything. I had a feeling someone was about to change it. That's why I checked the edit history, and it was already done. You guys work fast.
  10. Before insulting people you should probably heed your own advice first. Theriot is not a natural SS. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ryan_Theriot You should probably read the links before you post them. That says he's a natural at 2b. Haha, that's why I hate wikipedia. Anyone can change anything at any time.
  11. Before insulting people you should probably heed your own advice first. Theriot is not a natural SS. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ryan_Theriot This is what it says at your link. Haha, I'm not getting into this debate, but check the edit history on that wiki page. Someone just changed it to say "a natural at second base".
  12. I would advise against a baby in the bleachers too. A home run to your section, or an outfielder throwing a ball up to you after an inning could result in drunks jumping everywhere trying to get it. If you must though, I'd suggest the back row, far away from most of the potential problems.
  13. He has had some decent starts this year. The problem is that his bad starts have been REALLY bad. I drafted him in one of my leagues too, knowing I was getting a high ERA. I thought he was worth the risk, and I was way wrong.
  14. Myers screwed me more when he was bumped from the rotation to the bullpen. I drafted him cause I needed a quality starter with a decent number of K's.
  15. wanting to put your 753rd homerun in your trophy case makes you a jerk? maybe other things, but that seems reasonable. No, it was the way he said "I thought they threw the balls back here. They lied." That's what came off as kind of jerk-ish. Wanting the ball doesn't make him a jerk. Wow, Bonds really cant say anything without being made into a jerk. It was pretty obvious he said that jokingly, and in noway meant anything by it. I'm not looking for any reason to hate him. I didn't actually hear the clip of the way he said it. I'm going by everyone's reaction on this board that heard it (there's another thread on it somewhere). Apparently some people think he said it with a smug attitude. To be fair, I said that could have been him being a jerk. I didn't say it was him being a jerk.

  17. I say what are the odds that Bonds buys it from him. He has the money, and he already said he wanted them to throw them back so he could put them in his trophy case. Although that could've been him being a jerk.
  18. I could be mistaken, but a few months ago, whoever the source was (I forget who) came out and admitted he'd done it. This kept Fainaru-Wada and Williams from going to jail. Ahh, gotcha. Like I said, I don't know much about the book or the circus around it. I saw it as two guys trying to profit off of something that probably shouldn't be profited off of. So I kind of ignored it entirely.
  19. Based on what evidence can you say half the guys pitching to him were on roids? The evidence against Bonds is overwhelming (See Game of Shadows)- you're just speculating about the percentage of pitchers on roids to try to help your case. I don't know much about Game of Shadows or the circus around it. I refuse to read that or Conseco's book or any of that stuff that's hellbent simply on slamming people and profiting off the streroid buzz. But didn't the two guys who wrote it refuse to give up their sources? Meaning they could've been making all of that up? I have no doubt that Bonds was on some kind of performance enhancer at some point. He admitted to the cream and the clear in court, just as McGwire admitted using Andro. But the whole Game of Shadows thing always seemed a little fishy to me. They refused to give up their sources because their sources had obtained the testimony illegally. They offered confidentiality to their sources in exchange for the information and stuck to that offer. I admire that. I know it's probably true, but that's what always sounded fishy to me. There is absolutely no way of knowing that these "sources" really exist. I could say that I know Lou Piniella wears a dress when he's at home, I can't tell you where I got that information from though, because it was obtained illegally and I want to protect the people who gave it to me. And I'm willing to face jail time defending that, probably because it'd be better to do a little time than to be exposed publicly as a fraud. None if it matters though, Bonds admitted it. I don't need to read a book to know that, and I still say he belongs in the Hall.

  21. Sweet Jesus, what the hell is wrong with Griffey's lips. Wow, yeah, that looks pretty racist. It looks like the lips they use for Mr. Potatohead.
  22. Yeah, I've been hearing a lot about that lately too. That's crazy. Although I do think roid rage on a golf course would be hysterical.
  23. Without question, yes. And if I were at the game that he broke the record, I would give him a standing ovation. (Just so we're clear, I do think he's a jack@$$, and I don't like him as a person.)
