  1. What a douche. A couple weeks before he's going to break the record and in his home park. Go out there and hit a couple into the water for the fans. I think sometimes people are going out of their way to knock Bonds. Who cares if he doesnt want to do the HR derby. Exactly, no one said anything about Griffey declining it. Look at what happened to Wright and Abreu after they did it, they weren't the same after. And Bonds' reasoning is understandable. He said he was drained completely after he did it in '96, and that's when it was only 2 rounds. Now it's three, and he's older. I know it's his home stadium, but that doesn't mean he HAS to do it.
  2. To be honest, I'm more scared of the Cards than I am the Brewers. Carpenter comes back soon, and while many of you may think he may not be very effective, I assure you he'll be more effective than Kip Wells is for them. They will be there in the end. That being said, it's been a long time since I've been this excited about a Cubs team. It just seems like a lot is falling into place. I'm hoping it's not just a winning streak though. I hope it's a sign of a team finding their rhythm and becoming the team they should be...
  3. And it begins... They probably have Ben Sheets living in a padded room between starts
  4. Sorry if it's already been brought up, but did they announce this year's participants for the home run derby? I know Howard and Morneau are in it, and Carlos Lee and Miguel Cabrera want to be in it, but that's about all I've heard other than Bonds turning it down. Anyone know the complete list, or where to find it? Thanks.
  5. Some might say Soriano missed the first 1/4 of the season too.
  6. When does the voting end? Lou might adjust the rotation anyway just in case Z does make it in.
  7. The player that deserves it the most isn't always the one that makes it.
  8. Just use email addresses from your spam folder. I plan on voting quite often. Anyone inform Vance of this campaign yet? Z could really use his help.
  9. Very nice. I really love Len's reaction to Aramis' homer.
  10. I'd like to see them go after one solid arm in the bullpen. I know the Cubs are supposedly in the Gagne sweepstakes, but I think this town has had enough of injury prone pitchers.
  11. I know it's from Field of Dreams, but that speech is poetry at it's finest. Every year right before opening day, I watch that scene. And I'll keep doing it for as long as I live. It gives me the chills everytime I see it.
  12. Aramis' homer got the Cubs back to .500. Not really newsworthy outside of the north side of the Chicago. Bonds' home run is newsworthy whether you love him or hate him. They made the right call. He'll get his 756, and then the highlights will slowly fade away until they just stop showing them all together.
  13. You have no idea how mad I am that I was stuck at work during this game. Somehow seeing Ramirez' home run on the game cast just isn't the same. :( Still a great win. Lets keep the ball rolling tomorrow. Kick the Brewers when they're down, then pour sugar in their gas tank.
  14. The season starts today. Nothing we can do about all those one run losses and bad games in the past. Its time to make a run at the Brewers. Put a little pressure on them, see if they can handle it. I'll have to be peaking at the game cast today because of work, but it should be fun anyway. Go Cubs, lets keep this hot streak alive.
  15. I feel the same way. Retire while you can still leave somewhat gracefully. Don't become Rickey Henderson. Go out on a high note.
  16. After watching Ron Artest over the years, I'm almost positive that the show he puts on it all an act. He likes the negative attention too much. He's a perfect spokesman for the "There's no such thing as bad publicity" campaign. Just look at Zambrano's eyes when they show dugout shots of him sitting on the bench by himself. It's scary. You start to wonder what could be going through his crazy head, and how many people he has in that head.
  17. It's not that Zambrano is tough (although I'm sure he is), it's that he happens to be the craziest man ever to NOT get locked up in an asylum.
  18. I see this weekend series as a "who is going to blink first" series. Both teams have been red hot, and one of those streaks has to come to an end. I don't see a sweep coming on either side, which is unfortunate for both because it could vault the Cubs right back into the hunt, and it could shoot the Brewers way out front. But I have a feeling it's going to be a great series. With that said, I'm also very upset the Brewers don't have to face Zambrano this weekend. Especially since Z just noticed the regular season started, and he started pitching accordingly.
  19. Won't be able to watch this one today, but rest assured I'll be sneaking peaks at the game cast all afternoon at work. Go Cubs.
  20. It looked like most of them were standing and watching. The Cubs' security did a really good job. Howry just stood there and was like "WTF are you doing?" He didn't look too worried about the situation. The guy was a scrawny guy who was obviously pretty drunk. Didn't look like he posed much of a threat. Yeah, but scrawny guys can still carry knives. After seeing what happened with Monica Seles back in the day, and what happened on the south side a few years ago, I'd be ready for anything out there if I was a player.
  21. Did any of the players try to head the guy off? I know the Rockies hitter was trying to warn Howry, but was anyone on their way to help? Or were they just standing there watching?
  22. Oh, they definitely took him to jail. What he did is a felony. Yep. Len mentioned that it's a 3rd degree felony to run on the field like that. He'll be jailed for the night and heavily fined. It's a scary thought, but I honestly hope they find a weapon on this guy or something. Just something to put him in more legal trouble than he's already in. (I say that now knowing he didn't make it to Howry) That moron deserves a few weeks in a 8 x 8 with a large lonely man named Bubba.
  23. Oh, they definitely took him to jail. What he did is a felony.
