  1. It depends on the definition. I suppose there can be more than one guy at the top of the market. But take the last offseason- although I love Shota, he was well down the list. It'd be nice if 1) he can repeat this coming year and 2) the Cubs do something like that again. I like Freid the most. That would probably qualify as top of the market.
  2. It all depends on one's definition of aggressive. If he can find the right deal, I think he'll trade some high-end minor leaguers. He's probably going to sign a nine-figure pitcher. Will the players they get be at the top of the market? Doubtful.
  3. I don't even think we will say we tried. However, I suspect that even with Boras, he's going to sign quickly with the Yankees and might not even make it to FA. Boras needs some wins.
  4. I see this as a great opportunity for Shaw to get "his feet wet". I doubt that Nico will be ready to go by April. The caveat is I don't know the Cubs depth chart. Maybe he's behind some other people.
  5. I saw a report that the QB from Texas is sitting out the rest of the season to focus on the draft? I don't know if it's true or not. If so, pretty crazy.
  6. where did he play 2/3 of the time? Did the Cubs have two catchers on the roster? He wasn't a catching prospect.
  7. Keller in the hands of the Cubs development people may change those numbers a lot.
  8. No. 438 innins to 595 innigs. But whatever, he spent no time in the minors for 'development'. They knew he wasn't a catcher.
  9. Probably the fact that they didn't even try to see if Schwarber could catch. He spent about 1.3 full seasons in the minors and played OF more than catcher and not by a small percentagew. He was never a catcher in professional baseball in any real sense. It's not a "vibe".
  10. There is no doubt he's a better catcher than Schwarber ever was.
  11. He's already a better catcher than Schwaber ever was. He's not going to be a 1st baseman. I see no reason why the Cubs couldn't carry him as a primary DH and let him learn the position. But I also don't know where the deficiencies lie. He appears to have an adequate arm. I don't know about the rest of it. Give him another season in AAA, but if he's killing the ball, don't be afraid to bring him up.
  12. They are never going to shoot for higher than pretty good. It's not their business model.
  13. Seeing Rodgers lose on a national stage week after week is like ice cream on a hot summer day.
  14. Dodgers gonna wrap it up
  15. Tommy F’n Edman driving in four runs tonight. lol
  16. First of many injuries for that frame.
  17. This should go in transactions. It has nothing to do with the Cubs. Mods clean up this horsefeathers.
  18. Loved the throwback uniforms. They play some D.
  19. You watch your filthy mouth.
  20. I’m not certain but I think they didn’t take advantage of college free agency or whatever the horsefeathers they are calling it.
  21. Alternatively, DH is an actual position. Let him DH and work with at the big league level (BP, pregame, off days) on conditioning and defense. There is no value to the club leaving him in AAA if he can handle MLB pitching.
  22. Jed should be judged by wins. The real kind, not the fantasy ones. He’s made a mediocre team window using a lot of money. But he’s also made a minor league system that mirrors the big club with several top 100 players but no top 20 players. Hes not bad or good, he’s pedestrian- mediocre, alsoran, middle of the road, nondescript, and nothing to write home about. The Cubs should do better. I don’t like that Ricketts haven't fired him and are leaving him to hang in the wind. But Tommy Boy is as milquetoast as Jed and the money is flowing.
  23. The Dodgers are peaking at the right time. Suck it, haters.
  24. Ohtani is ridiculous
