  1. I said it would be nice to have a 37-7 laugher, it was just as nice having a 36-10 game. A couple more weeks to get better against lesser opponents will help until they get to the NFC North heavy part of the schedule.
  2. Like who? I mean if you’re going to whine give us some meat.
  3. Looking forward to the NLDS. I think the Yankees' path is pretty easy.
  4. If your options were Ross or Tito the answer is clear.
  5. I know the Cubs are looking for pitching, but I want no part of that.
  6. If Cody opts out, I'm hyper-focused on trading Nico, moving Busch to 2nd base, and signing Vlad. Or they could keep Nico and have Vlad as a DH. But I want Vlad.
  7. Does anyone else have a bias against ranking newly drafted players? Except for Smith, I didn't put any of the newly drafted guys in the top 20.
  8. It would be nice to have a 37-7 laugher, but that's not how they operate. I expect 24-17 with a game on the line defensive stop.
  9. This is not the great argument you think it is.
  10. That reminds me of when I was a kid and we’d get the JCPenny Christmas catalog and I’d circle all the page numbers of toys I wanted like the $300 race track, the $150 walkie talkies etc. and I’d end with the cap guns and Lincoln logs.
  11. They never tried to deceive or paint a picture that wasn't an accurate reflection of their intentions. At the same time they cannot be naked and say we are going hard after player X or player Y is out of comfort. We pretty much know that Jed is going to look for value and try and sign players for what he thinks is a fair value. Those efforts will result in a competitive team that they hope will get to the ASB in good shape so they can add pieces. It's a risk, but it's a lower risk than signing Jason Heyward to his deal.
  12. because he's bad at his job.
  13. I'm ambivalent. He's a scoundrel and a pedophile. There is no reason why some statements to the effect of he bet on baseball and was banned couldn't go on the plaque. Same thing with all the PED guys. A simple statement, "he played in the Steroid Era." It should go on all the plaques of the guys from that era. But, whatever.
  14. It seems like Napoli, the bullpen coach, and some strength and conditioning dueds are the only ones getting the axe. Maybe Counsell doesn't like sleeve tats.
  15. I hope you don't think I was criticizing. The weirdness of baseball is one of the things that makes it so great.
  16. I’m going to say Philly vs NY WS Philly champs.
  17. I’m thinking if Cody opts in - Trade Nico + Caissie for TOR SP. Move Busch to 2nd, go after Vlad. Buy high leverage relievers. If Cody opts out- buy Fried and look to trade for a middle order bat. Get a lefter masher for the bench. Buy high leverage relief.
  18. Look at the Red Sox minor league system now. I wish Bloom stayed in Boston.
  19. It's likely more complicated than one main variable. Weather + pitching matchups + balls + ? + ?. You'd have to do a regression analysis to get the relative contributions. But first, you'd have to get all the variables.
  20. awful. He was a true humanitarian.
  21. I'm on the Fried train until he signs elsewhere and we smugly note how bad the contract is.
  22. I'd be over the moon if that happened.
  23. The Mets and Braves should agree to a mutual forfeit and not play the games.
