  1. home runs for flaherty, vitters and clevenger. raley got drilled. AA is a big step for him with his fringy stuff.
  2. i think what he's saying is that the cubs should never sign a free agent to a long-term contract.
  3. i can't remember the last time the cubs got a big hit with the bases loaded. oh wait it just happened.
  4. to be fair, most of us wouldn't break 80 on the front 9. and to be fair, all of us would look foolish against major league pitching, so let's go easy when we criticize the cubs. i'll use green font next time (no i won't)
  5. Honestly, until Soto starts hitting I could care less, he has killed the Cubs in many RBI situations this year so far. If I see him foul out with a runner in scoring position and less than 2 outs again I may go into an alcoholic rage. he's played 8 games and his babip is around .200, i think we can assume that he will hit better than darwin [expletive] barney in the future.
  6. as much as i'd like people to trade me the jason heywards of the world, it's just not going to happen. my plan isn't to trade for guys like gary sanchez, who might be really awesome in 4 years. if i deal halladay it will be for guys who are already in the advanced minors and should be making an impact at the big league level by next season. plus i have a dearth of top talent on my team, while other people have excess talent, so this upcoming offseason i can probably just do what i did with halladay this offseason, trade some middling piece for an expensive keeper.
  7. that's a generous assessment. my rotation is decent but lackey is a bum. i don't have a single offensive player projected to be among the top 100 point scorers.
  8. what's the rule on service time? mcgehee played a few games with the cubs in 2008.
  9. apparently barney is second in the lineup and soto is eighth? is lou back?
  10. The guy seriously developed his own line of Affliction clothing. http://www.rock-rebel.com/p-1508-affliction-ryan-braun-samurai-tiger-signature-series-t-shirt-in-green-lava-wash-up-to-xxxl-3xl.aspx lol
  11. Perhaps I just have a different idea of what's fun than you do. To me, building a team that will be very strong for years to come is more fun than eking out a 9th place finish in a 16 team league.
  12. There's no issue with minor leaguers occupying the bench during the season. If you try to carry them over into next year, they would count against your 10 keepers at the major league level if you've got your 10 minor league slots filled. Not sure about the major league active roster. There are no rules against it, but it doesn't feel right. well i'd basically be playing a forfeit lineup. my team isn't good this year, at least when i compare it to other teams in the league. the downside to trading a player like halladay is that my team sucks and while a lot of people can't afford to keep him at 800 points or whatever, i shouldn't have a problem.
  13. so let's say i go the firesale route and have a lot of prospects and not a lot of major league players. can i have, say, 15 minor leaguers but only 10 occupying the minor league allocations, and then another 5 either on my benches or in the lineups? (where they will obviously be generating 0 points)
  14. one of my former co-workers wrote on facebook that beckett is saving the red sox' season. one of his friends responded "it's game 9, calm down" and he said that going to 1-8 and losing 2 out of 3 to the yankees would basically end their season. that my friends is a complete lack of perspective.
  15. jeez the yankees have freddy garcia pitching as a long reliever (i guess) and also have russell martin, eric chavez and andruw jones. guess they're becoming a recruiting ground for players who used to be very good.
  16. Agreed on belly putters but Scott wasnt top 20 was he? I thought he firmly in bust territory as far as how good people thought he would be. yeah he was ranked top 5 in the world at one point and a lot of people figured he'd have multiple majors by now. i think he's ranked in the 20s now so he's probably sucked the last couple of years.
  17. boston has 11 hits, 7 walks and a HBP in 7 innings, and only 3 runs. now that is failure to hit with runners on base.
  18. Well you compared McIlroy to you or me when there really is no comparison. Post a stupid comment don't be surprised if you get a stupid response. if i get a response from you i'm surprised if it isn't stupid.
  19. there was just no point in me having both sandoval and mcgehee on the same team, since neither has eligibility other than 3B. i figured i'd just dump mcgehee and get a prospect for him. and so begins my rebuilding mode! might just put half my roster on the trading block and see what offers i get.
  20. no worries, i look forward to you trading all of your prospects and future draft picks to me when i start my firesale.
  21. there have been a lot of weird results late in the year where teams with nothing to play for have really given good/motivated teams fits. i think a lot of these teams are just playing loose and also the kids that get to dress are really trying to make a good impression for next season.
  22. oh [expletive] i forgot about that, i thought he was just a casual golfer who wandered onto the course on thursday and happened to take the lead in the masters.
  23. havlat (not on the hawks any more, but was not long ago) is an example of a guy who is both a giant vagina and a dirty player.
  24. to be fair, most of us wouldn't break 80 on the front 9.
