  1. all the australian media has been abuzz about the chances of an aussie winning this thing, especially overnight. i can't wait until the south african wins and they throw in a mention of the masters results at the end of the sports wrapup.
  2. Imagine if we had him AND Josh Hamilton? Powerhouse! Fuckin hendry!
  3. Yes the pitcher is in trouble, so he's going to try to get ahead of the hitter. If you just stand there and watch a first pitch meatball go by then the pitcher is in less trouble.
  4. 8 games into a season, sounds like plenty of time to determine the clutchiness of a team.
  5. Ok. I saw the error message and assumed that it was either not going to save my roster or not going to allow any of my players to score points since I had an illegal roster.
  6. It would also help if you could have more reserves than 3. I tried to bench lackey and niemann but due to the 3 reserve rule I couldn't. really if you can't set your lineups days in advance and can't move guys to the bench (leaving SP spots open) I'm probably going to have this problem multiple times. Every other league I've been in has those options available and so I use them - I don't really have time or patience to check my team and set the pitchers every day. Quakers you can believe whatever you want. You're blowing me out so I have no idea why it even matters to you. As it is your post is nonsense, I raised the issue with lackey the day that I saw he had been started and is it really hard to believe that I'd bench a pitcher who scored -30 in his previous outing when he's now facing the best offense in baseball?
  7. i've seen plenty of times when that bugs bunny slider breaks right into the strike zone and the ump misses it because he, like the batter, gave up on the pitch before it reached the plate.
  8. according to a friend of mine, espn3.com will be showing a game every week. hopefully you'll be getting other games that don't pit one of the best teams in the league against one of the worst. west coast suffered a tough home loss to sydney last night; led by 2 goals midway through the 4th quarter but then surrendered 4 straight goals and a behind. sydney is a solid club so not a huge shame, and west coast has suffered some tough injuries so far. fremantle (other team from the perth area) had a nice easy road win against adelaide, who isn't good but isn't terrible either. edit - apparently this is the schedule of espn3 games, and pretty much every week there are multiple games available. these are some of the games in the next month that should be pretty good: Sydney v Geelong Essendon v Collingwood (essendon were bad last year but have pulled off a couple of big blowout wins over solid teams this year - they seem to be a good up and coming team. collingwood are unfortunately very strong and their supporters are douchebags.) Sydney v Carlton Collingwood v Western Bulldogs St. Kilda v Carlton (st kilda has been in the last two grand finals but haven't looked good so far this year) Geelong v Collingwood (maybe the two best teams in AFL right now) don't watch any gold coast games unless you want to see a team lose by 100.
  9. coello got drilled. the i-cobs have allowed 3 home runs to chris davis.
  10. yeah i thought i did, and some message popped up saying that it would affect subsequent days... don't really remember. i did want to bench lackey because he was facing the yankees and completely [expletive] the bed in his first start.
  11. Do you say this every time one of our players admires one of their good plays? Theres not enough good plays executed by our players to admire. plus we don't really have any fatasses.
  12. Yeah but still the Cubs were 4-3 before this game. I think that is too early for apathy to set in for the season but maybe I'm wrong. Personally I have been thinking the Bulls & Blackhawks respective drives towards the playoffs have had something to do with it too. I've been pretty apathetic since about April 2010. There is just a general sense of apathy from Cubs fans right now. Not all but many. Its why the crowds are dwindling, its why the game threads and Cubs posts in general have dropped significantly from 2 years ago. Well, I'm assuming you'll be seeing more once it gets nicer out since they've already sold over 2.6 million tickets. To idiots, I guess. they sold more tickets to the games against the pirates but a lot of the people who had tickets didn't go. there are still tickets available for games/weekends that are normally sold out. they just had their lowest attendance game in years. i know they are still drawing some people, but how can you argue that there isn't a sense of apathy that wasn't there in recent years?
  13. Yeah but still the Cubs were 4-3 before this game. I think that is too early for apathy to set in for the season but maybe I'm wrong. have you seen the crowds at wrigley? granted it's the pirates, but the first series of the year and half the seats are empty. the cubs weren't good last year, don't look to be good this year and haven't made the type of signings that get people excited.
  14. there are still a few spazzes here. the bigger factor contributing to the small game threads is that the cubs are mediocre and the fans are apathetic.
  15. i think matt garza is trying to break the record for highest single season BABIP against.
  16. but i thought you said they were so terrible. that's average.
  17. how do you strike out 7 times in less than 5 innings against chris narveson???
  18. kurcz pitched pretty well but they left him in too long and he gave up a 3 run homer with 2 outs in the 5th inning.
  19. a better response would have been, "were my throws from third base a legitimate threat to the lives of people sitting behind first base?"
  20. i assume he's just playing short season ball since he showed up fat and out of shape.
  21. have i started too many pitchers for week 1? i tried to remove lackey a day ahead of time and apparently it didn't save. i wanted 2 each from halladay, marcum and garcia and 1 from lackey and niemann, but it seems like it didn't save my roster moves so i may end up with too many. don't really understand the CBS format or why, if i edit my friday lineup on thursday, it won't save the changes.
