That seems very cheap. I thought he'd get 4/46 or something like that...unless he was just dead set on SanDiego I can't see why we didn't push this opportunity further.

Apparently he wanted to stay in SD because I'm sure he could have gotten a better deal somewhere else. I just wonder if SD knew that he wanted to stay when they lowballed him on the first offer. Well, now it's time for JH to make that big trade for a RF.

Thats why I didn't even care about Brian Giles. I knew he'd re-sign with the Padres.

I liked Giles but his age really scared me. He was going to be 35 and getting at least 3 years. That's a scary territory.

Even if Giles is 70% as effective he still is only making 10 mill/year. In three years that probably won't be that much for a putting up those numbers.

 

He was the perfect fit. I understand if he wasn't interested in leaving the WC. Maybe Hendry knew and that is why he didn't persue, who knows.
