Yes and no, Cuse. FSU is struggling this year because of recruiting woes over the past three years, compounded by injuries. When this team was healthy, let's not forget they were 7-0. After that, they lost 3 of their starting OL, and 3 of their top 6 DL members. Since that point, it's all been downhill.

 

They had the number 4 class last year, and the few years before that were top five as well. Aside from injuries, could it be more coaching than the recruiting?

 

But, that's the problem. The recruiting rankings are largely a one-year thing when they happen, and don't take into account when you have two consistent classes with 4 and 1 OL, immediately preceeded by a year where 6 OL were signed, only to lose 2 permanently to injury and another to diabetes (possibly to where he'll never play again).

 

The skill positions are there, and a couple of QB's (if one doesn't transfer) who are more than capable. If noone is there to block, can you run the ball or complete a pass?

Keith Jackson is inarguably the worst football broadcaster ever. He's completely biased towards West Coast teams, which is just as bad as Musburger's obvious wish that he had gone to Michigan.

 

I don't see much of Jackson, but doesn't he do strictly west coast games?

 

Musberger is beyond terrible, especially when he finds his special player to obsess every game. Chris Gamble was the worst.

 

"Gamble's lining up in the slot! What could this mean?"

 

"Gamble's covering a WR that Purdue doesn't normally throw to! Interesting turn of events."

 

"Gamble's drinking lemon flavored Gatorade instead of his typical Grape! More bulletins as events warrant!"

Jackson never has to travel west of Texas or something in his ABC deal. I have to deal with him once a year when ND plays their season ender at USC or at Stanford each season. Musburger is just plain terrible and I was pleasantly surprised when Brad Nessler did the ND/UM game this year instead of him (Nessler is my favorite current college announcer).

Yea he only does West Coast games on a semi-retired basis. Also I believe Linda Cohn is doing the D1AA game on the duece right now!

That's not Linda Cohn. I think it's Pam Oliver, but definitely not Linda.

 

Ah, my mistake. I had it on for a second and thought I heard her voice, which then caused me to immediately change the channel.

I saw Bush's 500-yard all purpose game against Fresno and I was at the Stadium when he ripped ND for 156 yards. The guy is the most dangerous man with a football in his hands in college in at least 25 years.
