The Bucs are playing horrible D lately and we're just hitting our stride. It looks good for the Bears, but sometimes we decide not to show up for 4 quarters (New Orleans). We can't do that with the good teams.

Bears 17 Bucs 14

I've heard this Bears team naturally compared to the 85 Bears team, but this team looks a lot like the 2000 Baltimore Ravens. They did it with a young team defense, led by 3 mid-20s LBs, including a great MLB. Their passing game was as shaky as the 05 Bears, but they finished 5th in the NFL in rushing yards.

The thing the Ravens and the 85 Bears would do is give an inexperienced QB the worst game of his life. The recently, sack-happy, Bears will send all kinds of heat at Chris Simms, and see if he can beat them.

Like last week, gotta watch out for the big play from the WR (Galloway). And beware of the quick RB. If the Bears can bottle up Caddy, they have a good shot in this one. I think the Bears will have a little trouble running on the offensive side, but TB is really starting to weaken in the passing game. After giving up 140/game in the air thru the first 5 games, TB has given up well over 200/game in the last 5. With Gage's emergence, Orton has a couple options now in the passing game. If there are no drops, watch out for Orton's best game, especially with Rex breathing down his neck.

In case people didn't hear about this, the Bears resigned Eddie Berlin to a 2 year deal and Bernard Berrian pulled his hammy again. He will be out this week but they didn't say how much longer after that.

Is Berlin ready to go today? THat'd be nice. He's as good as any non-Muhammad WR on the team now. When everyone is healthy, he also makes Wade expendable.

I can actually watch this game today (they are showing it in my market), which means the Bears will get killed. If they lose, you can blame me.

This is a good analysis of the match-up:

Quarterbacks: Kyle Orton is playing far better than his 62.5 QB rating. Chris Simms has put up impressive numbers relieving Brian Griese but has less experience than Orton. Edge: Bears.

Running backs: Cadillac Williams is having the rookie season (4.2 per carry, 3 TDs) the Bears hoped from Cedric Benson. But Thomas Jones is having an even better season (4.4, 6 TDs). Mike Alstott's scoring drive inside (5 TDs) is a power edge. Edge: Bucs.

Receivers: Joey Galloway has 7 TDs to Muhsin Muhammad's 3 and averages nearly 5 more yards per catch. Michael Clayton and tight end Alex Smith give more than Bears' secondary receivers. Edge: Bucs.

Offensive line: Bears are 5th in rushing yards and have not allowed Orton to be sacked in past two games. John Tait vs. Simeon Rice is an elite matchup. Edge: Bears.

Defensive line: Rice and Anthony McFarland are exceptional, but Bears' rotation is deeper. Adewale Ogunleye and Alex Brown bring pressure that is disrupting offenses. Edge: Bears.

Linebackers: Derrick Brooks and Shelton Quarles lead Bucs in tackles; Lance Briggs and Brian Urlacher lead Bears. Edge: Even.

Secondary: Nathan Vasher is playing his way into the Pro Bowl, and Ronde Barber ranks third in tackles for Bucs. Charles Tillman needs a big game vs. Clayton and Galloway. Mike Brown provides leadership. Edge: Bears.

Special teams: Brad Maynard's accuracy remains superb. Bears are top-5 in both kick and punt coverage. Bucs' Matt Bryant has hit 14 of 16 field goals. Edge: Bears.

Coaching: Jon Gruden hasn't lost to the Bears in two meetings. Bears have had problems in Tampa, even when Bucs were bad. Lovie Smith has had his team ready for two road wins. Edge: Bucs.

Me too, I'm so excited!

My Thanksgiving Break is over so I'm back at Mizzou, so what do I get to watch?

St. Louis Rams (4-6) vs. Houston Texans (1-9)

 :x

I'd give whatever team is at home the advantage in this matchup. Bears still have a good chance of winning, but I'm not gonna bet on it.

Just be glad you don't have to watch any of the 2-8 teams battle each other:

That's a weird position for the camera. Fox has a fantastic picture of sam adams for his player photo. He looks like he just noticed the car that's about to run over him.

nice overthrow, kyle.
