My first game was the 20-1 win over the Dodgers in '01. That was fun. While we were walking back to the car, I got offered $80 bucks for my Sosa bobblehead doll.

you know, i like len, but i kinda miss chip and his cheesy nerdiness.

that clip also reminded me how much i couldn't stand joe carter. wow.

You mean the incoherent yelling in the background? Yeah, I didn't like him either.

And I do miss Chip...he got more pumped up than Len does...although I'm sure that will change the longer Len does Cubs games.

What did McMichael Do?

Earlier in the game, the ump blew (and I mean really blew) a call at home plate. He called the Cubs runner out when he was clearly safe. I don't think he was doing that great of a job on balls and strikes either.

Anyway, Mongo gets up to sing, and before the music starts says something like "Don't worry, I'm gonna have a talk with that home plate umpire after the game!" Hernandez did the "you're out of the game" gesture, and Mongo was ejected from the stadium.

But damn, was it funny.

I still hate Angel Hernandez to this day for that. I dont so much remember the out/safe call, however. The big one I remember was a strike 3 call on Ron Coomer.

Angel called Coomer out on a pitch that was LITERALLY at his forehead. And I'm not exaggerating. Coomer just stood there with this totally dumbfounded look on his face, he couldnt even argue. He looked like he just watched a pissant eat a bale of hay.

I thought i was going to bust a lung when McMichael said that.

I remember goin to the game after that one, which was my second Cubs game.

My first one I just remember was against the Mets. The lost 4-2 or something like that. The thing I remember the most is that around the 7th inning, the fans in the bleachers started throwing trash onto the field. My parents kept trying to get us to leave, but I resisted and stayed for the whole game (I wouldn't have wanted to miss a comeback!)

I was at this game too. Insanely hot that day. A buddy and I went down on an impulse, I was still in work clothes, but man, was it worth it. The most confusing and exciting play I've ever seen.

My first game was my 7th birthday, June 18th 1988 vs Montreal. Don't remember a thing about it.

Angel Hernandez has no business umping professional baseball. Not in the indy league, much less in the major leagues. He's called so many bad games that I've seen, it's ridiculous. I can think of at least a dozen off of the top of my head from the last two years alone.

Who was the ump that hosed Kerry in the 9th inning against the Reds in 2004? IIRC that was the game that Kerry got tossed after he'd been pulled because whoever was umping at home decided that curveballs weren't strikes anymore.

It was Eric Cooper. CB Bucknor was also on that crew.
