The Woods' annual charity fundraising event to benefit pediatric cancer research at the Children's Memorial Hospital in Chicago will be held Saturday, November 12. Here's the MLB.com article on it.

Confirmed to appear at the bowling event are Cubs teammates Mark Prior and Ryan Dempster, Hall of Famer Ryne Sandberg, former Cub Mark Grace and Boston Red Sox pitcher Matt Clement. Last year's inaugural event raised more than $400,000 for pediatric cancer research at the hospital.

A silent auction will be conducted during the bowling tournament featuring items such as Bat Boy for a Day with the Chicago Cubs, a first pitch at Wrigley Field and a clubhouse toilet seat signed by past and present players. A limited number of corporate lane sponsorships and standing room only packages are still available. For more information, contact Tracey Colligan at 713-693-8341 or Molly Riley 773-880-6868 or visit http://www.kerrywoodstrikezone.com.

After the tournament, Kerry and Sarah Wood will host a celebrity bartending event at Le Passage, 937 N. Rush St., where celebrities will compete for tips while pouring drinks for customers. Doors open to the general public at 9 p.m. CT and the event will go until 11 p.m. Included in the evening's festivities will be another auction, with items including an evening at Le Passage with Cubs pitcher Todd Wellemeyer.

Ahhhh..a genuine "game-used" authentic signed toilet seat from the Cubs clubhouse.

Hopefully leftover from the Hector Villanueva days...

Quick story, Hector was signed by the Cardinals and I was in Spring Training with my Grandfather who was, and still (part-time) a photographer for SI, Baseball America, etc. We were at the Cardinals complex and I walked into the bathroom and smelled the worst smell of my life. The bathroom stall opens and out comes Hector. He gave me a "Hey man" and gave me a high five.

All of this before he made it to the sink to wash his hands.

Oh, the memories :)

No bowling for Kerry!

Don't worry. The pitchers bowl with their non-throwing arm.

I hope it doesn't look as pathetic like it would if I tried to do that.

In that case I hope they get to use bumper-lanes. :joker:

(Couldn't resist - I took ten kids bowling yesterday :D )

"In sports news, both Kerry Wood and Mark Prior were injured today when Neifi Pear-ez stormed into their bowling charity drunk out of his gourd. He proceeded to approach the pitchers and call for a 'conference' during which he tried to instruct the pitchers on how to bowl. Security saw him promptly escorted out, but not before they had him sign his free agent filing papers.

Wood and Prior then resumed bowling, but were injured simultaneously as Macias charged into the bowling alley demanding a 'double switch'. Both lost concentration at the exact wrong time, and ended up falling on their pitching arms. Preliminary medical exams say that Prior should be healthy 'in like a week or something', and that Wood's arm has completely transcedend time and space, leaving 'nothing but an empty socket'.

Cub's GM Jim Hendry had this to say, 'We presume that both Wood and Prior are going forward strongly in their recovery, and we do not have a timetable for their return as of yet.'

In response to reporter's questions, Hendry simply said 'No, we do not have a timetable for their return, although we expect to bring them back too early, watch them fail, and then announce that surgery is needed.'

Cub's Manager Dusty Baker had this to say regarding the incident, 'Well Macias and Neifi both had resonable demands, and although my pitchers are both now injured, I expect to be visiting Macias in jail.' Dusty added 'You mah boy blue....you mah boy.'

When asked if the injury to these young pitchers would be a testing of the Cubs AAA team, Dusty replied 'Absolutely not. We owe a duty to baseball to make sure they don't get a chance to play, or even see a baseball. I've talked to Lenny Harris, and he seems willing to fulfill our needs.'

When asked about the up and coming star Felix Pie, Dusty reponded that '[Pie] Pi had been worrying for a while, until I can up with this new position called the 'futility role'. It's like the ultility role, except they never leave the bench. I fully expect [Pie] Pi to be learning from the bench by July.'

This is Carrie Muscrat reporting from Europe. Hey, didja know they don't have baseball over here? Isn't that crazy?

LOL. Except Dusty would have said dude and man 7 or 8 times at least.
Yeah, I thought I'd break the mold on that one, a little too obvious for my taste.
