Phil Garner was just on The Score with B and B. Dan asked if 'there was one thing that surprised him about the White Sox, that didn't show up on the scouting reports'. Garner said the White Sox didn't walk much during the regular season, but during the WS-they began taking pitches, working the count and laying off close pitches. He thought that Dye's at bat in Game 4 was 'the way to work a count' and was very good.

Makes sense considering who the White Sox had to face in the World Series. When the Cubs face pitchers like that, they go up there hacking like there's no tomorrow.

Not only does that not work, but it almost assures that pitcher of seeing the 8th or 9th inning.

You'd think someone on the Cubs team would have been able to figure that out by now.

Yes. Maybe some sort of "coach" or "manager" who could point it out and instruct them to do otherwise, and then if they failed to do so this "coach" or "manager" could then lay down an appropriate response.

could you please translate this "coach" or "manager" word into something that Cubs fans can understand?

It just goes to show that the Sox came into the series with a game plan and executed it well even if it was against their nature to do so. Under Dusty, it's always every man for himself.
