I checked this thread out to see how many posts it would take before Hendry was mentioned. We got 6.

Well, there was a witch on ESPN2's Cold Pizza who cast a spell to break the "Curse of the Billy Goat" this morning for the Halloween Episode. She said the Cubs would win it all in 2007 (99 years since 1908, 9+9= 18 = number of new beginning) and that you'd see some big moves start to happen in the Cubs' favor this offseason.

That's beyond ludacris. That's just dumb (and admittedly creepy if true).

At this point we need to take whatever help we can get.

Hey.... every time the white sox have won the World Series, the CUBS have gone to the WS the following year, no?

Too bad he won't run the Cubs, as Hendry looks like he's going to stick aroudn at least through this year.

Gammons said Esptein might just take the year off. Maybe the Cubs will look at him in 2007 after Hendry blows it again this year.

I don't think the Cubs will pay the GM 2.5 mil. Sorry to burst the dream.

Depo will take over in Boston and Theo joins the Yankees just a hunch.
Gee, Brian Cashman will be surprised after he just signed a 3 year deal. Depo has no chance there. He's has no people skills according to all reports and that won't fly in Boston as the GM.

with the feud between Larry Lucc and Theo don't be suprized if the Boss dangle an offer for an assistant job too Theo

Yeah, right. WHy would he? And why would Theo?

I don't think any team is going to pay a GM 2.5 mil. The highest paid right now is Schuerholz in Atlanta and he makes 1.7 mil.

Well, that's the figure Theo wanted from the Red Sox.

Actually, I believe he had asked for $1.5. I haven't read anything that says he asked for more than that.

We was ready to accept $1.5 million, and declined it, but by all reports it wasn't because of money, it was organizational politics.

You and Theo splitting the money?

It would be hysterical if DePo got the job.

May be the Red Sox good luck has come to an end.

Wha? I mean, there's no doubting that us Cubs fans have it worse, but 86 years is still a pretty long time.

I believe he wanted the $2.5 million that Beane was offered to come to Boston a few years back.

Articles have mentioned that he initially accepted the $1.5 million offer. The only mention of $2.5 million has been when writers are comparing it to the offer that Beane got. I can't find anywhere that says Epstein asked for that much.

My bad. All the numbers threw me off. Thank God I'm done with math in college!
