So Burnitz declined option, Walker and Williamson picked up.

What about Hollandsworth, Macias, Perez??? They aren't FA's yet!

I prey they don't come back next year to give another set of excuses for Dusty to Part time play Murton and Cedeno.

Please NO!!!

oh i didnt know that.

Still Perez and Macias, 2 automatic outs that will end up starting.

What do you guys think will happen with the pen

Would this team look better with

Nomar, Pie, Murton in the OF

Aram, Cedeno, Walker, Lee Barrett in the IF?

and a ton of money spent on pitching / pen?

No, they wouldn't IMO.

Nomar in the OF is a virtual lock to be a disaster.

Honestly, if Nomar wants to extend his career and be at less risk for injury, a move to LF for the rest of his career would be in his best interest, imo.

Yeah, bu does he even have the arm to play OF? Not everybody can play any position.

Well, he does have a hell of an arm, we've seen that... Only he might have to make sidearm throws from the OF, lol..

I think if Nomar wants to really lower his value and possibly ruin his career, he'll move to the OF..

I think his arm is more than adequate.

IMO he would HAVE to learn how to throw overhand if he moved to the OF. You can not have an OF throwing sidearm.

IMO, if Nomar does accept a move to the OF, I think he would be fine with a sidearm toss if it is stronger and more accurate than his overhand toss. His ability to make strong tosses from deep short and 3rd give me the impression that he has decent arm strength to play the outfield. While a sidearm toss is not optimal, I think I'd rather have his sidearm toss than Manny's, Damon's, etcs... overhand toss.

With respect to his legs, while the outfield involves more running, it is somewhat easier on the legs than shortstop which requires rapid start and stops in acrobatic positions, throwing across the body while planted, going across the bag, etc.

Maybe so, but for the Cubs next year I'd much prefer Murton starting in LF than taking the chance that Nomar can adjust to LF AND not have another leg injury playing a position where he has to cover more ground.

If Nomar wants to extend his career, he ought to stay at 3rd. Of course, that would preclude him from signing w/ the Cubs, but I thought he was more than adequate there, especially if you're willing to sacrifice a little pop at one of the corner positions.
