I haven't seen this yet, but I heard tody on the Score that "supposedly" the Cubs are very interested in Furcal along with 4 other teams. Not sure if this counts the Braves or not, but who else could be as interested as we are?

I can imagine it would be among these guys:

1. The Yankees (and he would take over in CF)

2. The Mariners

3. The Nationals

4. The Braves

Any idea who these rumored 4 teams are?

LOL.. I love how people feel so compelled to include the Yanks in every major free agent discussion that they go as far as this.

Not a knock on you at all...It's just an amusing thought.. They'd have 3 "star" starting SS in their everyday lineup.

Furcal in CF..

I could see the NYY trading Cano and signing Furcal to play 2nd...but CF?....no....

Didn't Grudz sign a 2 year deal?

No.

I expect the Cards to stick with Mark for another year. He's a solid 2nd baseman and a nice guy to have near the bottom of the order. I can't see Jocketty throwing money at Furcal when he's got a more than satisfactory option in-house.

one thing about grudzielanek: if the cards want him back, he will have to be re-signed early. there's a clause in his contract that forbids the cards from offering him arbitration.

I've heard reports the Mets would be players for his services at short or trying to get him to shift to second

i thought the mets were high on reyes? i suppose that's why there's the mention of the shift to second.

Well, it's not without merit. Let's not forget that's what NY wanted to do with Soriano, if they were able to get him back from Texas.

And also, to further add fuel to the fire, Williams is done with the Yanks, so they NEED a CF.

Doesn't seem too far-fetched to me, or way out of the realm of possibility.
