I'm thinking of going to the Cubs Convention, but a big part of my decision depends on cost. Could anyone who has gone give me a breakdown of how much it costs to get into the event each day, price of the hotel that the Convention is held in, and any other relevant info? Muchas gracias.

The pass last year was $50 for the weekend (Friday, Sat, Sunday). My mom tried to get me one over the phone, but they sold out extremely quickly. I only ended up getting one last minute from a friend of the family who knows John McDonough. I'm not sure how fast they'll sell this year, with the Cubs' last season.

I'd be interested in how much hotel rooms cost.

I was thinking about going as well. Where is the best place to get a ticket? Will the Cubs site tell me everything I need to know when the time comes?

The way I've done it is to reserve a room at the Hilton for Friday night. Depending on what kind of room you get, you get 2 - 4 passes included when you pay for the room. If you have 4 people and the room is $190, then you get a better price than if you bought 4 individual day passes @ $50 each, plus you get the room.

The rooms book up around August, and the day passes go on sale the first week of November. If you don't have a room and want one, you might want to call anyway in case they have a cancellation, but you'd be pretty lucky to get in that way.

Thx Bimi.

Sorry for my misinformation above.

I just checked the official site and the passes are $10 additional/person this year if you book a room. If you don't have a room, they are $50 again and go on sale Monday Nov 7.

No problem. It still seems like a good deal to book a room if you're planning to go with four people, since it would only cost a bit more then to just buy passes.

190 bucks? Whoa!

Anyone want to share a room? (Females receive first consideration)

Not sure what the demand for the convention is going to be like this year. Last year, they sold out in about 90 minutes. But in 2004, the next most popular year for the convention, it took over four hours to sell out, meaning if you tried after an hour or so, you could easily get through.

Doubt I'll be spending that much money on this club this winter.

That's for one night, too, but includes taxes. It was one of the pricier rooms. The 2- and 3-person ones are less.

Don't forget the price of parking downtown if you're not taking public transit.

The rooms are all sold out by the way. You could always get a room close by and just go for the days.

Tip: To drink with the guys go to the Irish pub thats in the Hilton. I have met the Sarge, Bobby Dernier, Jody Davis, Lee Smith, Michael Wuertz, Jason Dubois, Vance Law, and of course that punk Ronnie Woo-Woo...

Shows what I know. Passes sold out in a couple of hours today and pairs are already selling for $300 on eBay.

It's disgusting. I was on the phone from 9:50 till 1, and they were all sold out. Yet there were over 70 listings for tickets on ebay already. The listings I saw ranged from $100-700. It's funny how you can only go if you have the money to impress the scalpers..

Will be in town that weekend, but would only be able to attend Sat & Sun. I saw that the passes are $50, is it worth it for the two days?

Absolutely.

But they are sold out.

If you find any for 50 be sure to let me know.

I've gone every year since the 6th grade, and will be attending this year as well. It's awesome.
