didnt we have a guy who could thow 99 mph?

naaaa....we couldnt have....why would we get rid of him? attitude problems? no way........

This same player blew Game 4 of the NLDS for the Braves with two outs in the ninth inning.

To Brad Ausmus.

He also ended up being traded for a young & cheap reliever with decent stuff and a third baseman who had a breakout season in one of the hardest hitting leagues in the minors.

Bags should join Walker.

Jenks is an amazing story. To think that the Jenks and Turnbow's of the world are out there and we keep signing hawkins and remlinger.

Huh? Wood '98 makes me think of slurves and nasty curveballs. Particularly with Bagwell up.

If he keeps throwing them 99 nobody's gonna hit them and he can throw them all night.

i agree, that thing was unhittable. Throw in Bagwell's shoulder problem and he was very lucky he got a piece of those foul balls.

in the astro dome maybe....and getting rocked

I remember him throwing heat on EVERY pitch, the curves and slurves came if he got hit....

um, do 20 ks and 1 baserunner jog any memories? Kerry threw too many curves and slurves. He threw fastballs because he couldn't throw offspeed for strikes.

I'm sure there was plenty of heat but I will never forget Bagwell's k on the slurve where he was headed to the dugout before the catcher caught it. In any case, Kerry dominated the Astros that year. And his career numbers are right in line with his 1998 numbers so I wouldn't complain if he threw all fastballs.

No... Kerry was unhittable that day 'cause he kept throwing that curve ball at the right handers' chin..... and just about the time their knees would buckle, the ball would drop down over the plate. The only other pitcher I ever saw who could do that consistently was Jim Bouton. (and we all know what happened to his arm)

If you could send one Sox player, send him to a Stalin-esque reeducation camp (Stalin was a big fan of the walk, Comrade OBP, they called him) and then sign him to the Cubs, who would it be?

I kinda wish we had Dye in the outfield. He isn't spectacular, but he was better than Burnitz and any other players we threw out there...
