While discussing soccer, has anyone seen a flip throw-in before. I kid on my HS team did it and it was amazing. He would get a running start flip over by placing the ball on the ground and then come up throwing the ball. Any throw-in within the 18 we treated like a corner kick. It was amazing. He could throw it across the width of the field. Every time he did it, the opposing coaches would throw a huge fit but it was legal because both feet were on the ground. Maybe it more common than I think, but in my 15 years of playing/reffing soccer he was the only person I ever saw do it. I tried a few times but always fell on my head.

Also I take it a few here used to be/are keepers. That is what I played back in my soccer days.

We had 2 or 3 guys that could pull it off. I always thought it was very cool

I was a sweeper and made a conscious effort to clean out every flip-thrower I saw, even if it was the opposing sweeper. It annoyed me, for some reason.

my best friend on the team was the sweeper, and that was pretty much his modus operandi for every opposing player.

Ooh ooh, i didnt know this was a "Keepers dirty secret" thread.

What about the "I was trying the punch the ball out but i missed and hit you in the face, my bad" move.

Kind of pertinent.

When I was a freshman, one of our seniors who went on to play college soccer had a unique way of heading the ball. He would always know where the ref was and bring both hands up, clenched in a fist. While shielding the ref, he would punch the ball with the hand on the far side of his body, while making it look like he headed it.

He always got away with it. Don't ask me how.

you played with maradona?

No. My teammate was Asian.
