I don't know about percentages, but IMO Carpenter is more likely to compete for the Cy Young than Lee is to compete for the MVP.

Considering that Carpenter had more consecutive Quality Starts this year than anybody since the 1920's, I'd say it's going to be a pretty hard standard to repeat.

 

I expect Lee to have a terrific season next year, but it would be alot to ask for him to contend for the MVP again.

 

So yeah, I think it's safe to say that neither of them should be expected to repeat what they're doing.

Why is Lee getting not AL Cy Young buzz? 17-4, 3.75 ERA...i'll take it. Santana has fewer wins (I know, I know, wins aren't everything) but this guys has been a major reason for Cleveland's success.

Going by VORP, Lee is the 18th best SP in the AL. His teammate Millwood is 5th.

Carpenter:

 

17-9, 3.10 ERA

 

Lee:

 

.310, 40 HR, 110 RBI

I've heard him in a few talks. Which is a shame, because he hasn't done half as good as Millwood.
