Original Scoop Jackson Article Thread

Interesting angle...

From BP's Chris Kahrl: [On Dusty's need to go.]

You'd have to hope so, but he's put the Cubs in an impossible situation. He's earned the axe, but firing him and hiring the best available candidate might put them in a politically incorrect moment of having fired a famous minority manager, and replacing him someone who might not be a minority. I suppose there's a group of Sox fans praying for Jerry Manuel's return to Chicago, just not for their team...

Now the Trib isn't the brightest company to begin with, but you have to wonder where PR will rear its ugly head.

Screw political correctness and affirmative action. The color of a person's skin shouldn't be a factor for hiring/firing someone.

The color of Dusty's skin has already saved him his job, no non-black manager(and some black managers too) would've lost their jobs easy for the "black players play better in the sun" comment. If they replace him with a minority(Fredi Gonzalez), or even a non-minority with connections to the organization(Girardi), I wouldn't think it would be an issue unless Scoop decides to write another garbage article to stir up controversy.

If the Cubs fired Dusty, after this year's performance I think there would be enough there to not have race enter the equation as to why he was fired.

Now, if the Cubs didn't hire him and passed him up for a lesser known quantity, I think race would be enter the equation and incorrectly so, as I didn't want Baker hired for a lesser known quantity.

If people can't separate the fact the Cubs underachieved with him at the helm with the color of his skin, you're catering to the ignorant by bringing it up for discussion.

I want him gone and it has nothing to do with the color of his skin. It's the decision to put horrible hitters at the top of the order day after day that I want him gone.

If he put together line ups that made sense and used GOOD judgment with strategy, I wouldn't be calling for his removal, regardless of the color of his skin.

How does Scoop Jackson have a job?

He's like Sullivan and trolls. If you don't make any comment about them they will go away. They have no talent and write absurd articles so we can talk about them thus keeping their job. Once we stop putting up their articles they will go away.

Agreed. If baker was white he would be good as gone after those comments. Double-standards.

I understand why you did it JG and that is the trap these clowns pull us into. It's the last thing they teach them...if your career if failing, you're lazy or you have no talent write outragously stupid controversial articles.
