Patterson needs to get away from the game. Let his brain re-boot.

If he goes to Winter Ball, he should make drastic changes. Maybe open his stance to better see the ball? I'm not sure, but what he is doing now isn't working. At all.

I still contend that you sit him at the plate and have a pitching machine drill 1000 pitches a day off the plate and high and fine him every time he takes a swing. Better yet, use my dog's old shocker collar for negative reinforcement.

Now, my dog doesn't jump on people or swing at high outside strikes.

How's the dog's range in the OF(fetch)?

He blew out my shoulder if that tells you anything.

And, no, I don't throw like a girl.

Anymore...

Perhaps the same strategy could be used on players who miss signs? Or Managers that pinch hit Jose Macias for Ronny Cedeno?

We can't go into next season pinning our hopes to Corey turning it around. We can't have our CF throwing up .223/.261(!)/.364/.625.

no pun intended? :-)

Seriously, this just feels like one of those situations where Corey needs a change of scenery.

You can if you have Dunn and Giles in the OF.

I think Corey will be okay and while I don't know if he needs to go to winter ball for the whole season, he should go work on some things.

If the Cubs trade him, they better get some top-notch players for him and not some magic beans. With Corey, I get the feeling that if he gets away from Dusty and his stooges and onto a team with a real hitting coach who's willing to actually coach Corey, he'll become the player he's been hyped to be.

Bank on it, with probability 1, upon being traded from the Cubs, the light will go on and he'll become an All Star. It's as sure as Death and Taxes...

Assuming the Yankees can't pry Damon away from the Red Sox, i'm pretty much expecting the Yanks to do something to get Patterson from us. Perhaps a 3 way deal?

Maybe Corey wants out of Chicago. If he refuses to play winter ball he's gone, and I bet he knows it too.

That's a very interesting perspective. Being belligerent on a key issue, but continuing to say the right things about the organization as a whole maybe his way of seeking a trade without spooking a would-be suitor too much. Well, when he's dealt, I hope it's to an AL team.

Poor Corey. Poor little Corey. He just hasn't been coached right, that's why he hasn't hit in two years. Boo hoo hoo. If/when he goes good riddance.

Another point, why does it seem that it is only Corey who hasn't been coached well? Maybe macias and perez aren't coached well either.

I mean I know teams who are jumping at the bits to trade "top notch players" for a CF who puts .223/.261(!)/.364/.625. Let's face...a Patterson trade won't hurt the Cubs, ala Brock. I like Patterson as a person, but as a baseball player, he is dumber then a box of rocks. You can't teach "baseball instints", and Corey have no baseball instints. If the Cubs could get a decent player or two for CPatt then jump on it. Cause the Cubs ain't getting a TOP prospect for Patterson, that ain't happening.

Since both you mentioned are actually playing above their ability this season, I wish whoever "coached" Macias and Perez would "coach" Patterson.

Or at least teach him to steal signs like Neifi does

If no one will give up much for Patterson, why trade him? If they aren't going to get anything in return they can always release him if it comes to that. As frustrating as Patterson has been to watch he's still better than whomever they could get for him.

A Patterson trade has a better chance of hurting the Cubs than it does to help the team. With Pie in the wings, Greenberg and Bacon capable of filling in, there's no reason not to give Patterson one more chance. There have been players that had horrible seasons that were able to bounce back. Pat Burrell for example.

That being said, the Cubs must solidify the other OF positions so that they can pick up any offensive slack left by whoever they put in CF.

Right. Don't get mad at him and trade him for junk because he does have value.

When I watch Corey swing it makes my body hurt. He looks so awkard lately and I do not like what the Cubs have done to his hips. His swings are way too army.

Getting anything for CPatt is a +. Keeping him on the roster for 06' will only hurt the Cubs. He's pathetic! Why the majority of people here, don't understand that yet, is beyond me!

Good riddance, Corey!

His approach @ the plate hasn't changed in 2 years! Why would it change in 06'?

Thank you. I can understand people being down on Cpatt and rightfully so. There are several questions that come to mind though.

1. Does Corrie have the talent? I think so, he showed us before his injury that he is capable.

2. What is Dusty's stance on young players? No reply needed.

3. Has Dusty helped Corrie progress as a MLB player? Nope, he's regressed.

4. If Eric Patterson continues to impress, how will Corrie's experience with the Cubs factor into the equation? Epatt is still trying to earn his spot, once he gets it, he may not have much loyalty to the Cubs.

This is all just my personal opinion here. I don't have links and all, but I've read here and there that Dusty and Corrie have a bit of a stressed relationship. Like I said, Dusty is not 100% responsible for Corrie's performance, but I think it is unfair to Corrie to not look at the other side of the coin at what may be happening behind the scenes.

It's hard to justify keeping Cpatt, but I'm of the opinion that we'll come out on the loosing end of any deal made. Personally, I'd rather get rid of Baker and give Corrie one more shot.
